i love the 5.4. my dads '97 F150 has one. its geared with the 3:55 posi. i raced a 98 chevy with the 350 and 3:73's. it beat me by a truck length outta the hole but one i hit 55 mph i flew by him. seems like those tritons never run out of top end...
that big block chevy should of murdered that f150, granted i love ford trucks, but the 2 valve 5.4 with 3.55s and lifted with bigger tires has to be a dog.
@Dansz71sierra yea and no. manufactures say minimum is 8 wide rim for a12.5 wide tire but you can mount em on whatever size rim you want technically. some shops will do it and some wont but the narrower the rim the more they balloon out and you get uneven tread wear because the sides are pinched in more making the middles get worn quicker
@semeponedura could be true you have a nice truck! My comment was to a guy with the same body style as mine with a stock 4.6 and Ive beat every f150of that body style I've raced 4.6 or 5.4

And he raced another of my friends who owns a 2003 Ford Ranger with a 3.0L V6 and the 3.0L Ranger wiped the floor with with that Vortec...And trust me that little Ranger is FAR slower than any 5.4L every made. And what about Fords newer engines? The new 5.0L V8 keeps up with GM's 6.2L.

Todays small blocks are making the torque of yesterdays big blocks and the power of yesterdays sports cars. So no one can really aruge about that. But hopefully the new engines will hold up as well as the old ones did. For the record I too talk crap to GM guys..Mostly because I'm a Ford guy. :)
