(I know what it's like - I gained 12 pounds after going through a massively depressed phase starting last November.)

You might be right. Maybe incorrect. I see a confident woman on a mission, which is her own mission. So - she gained weight. She sings her heart and that's more beautiful than size. I lost 42 pounds and feel more confident in myself BUT I'm not confidently doing what I know I need to be doing. What are you doing? Your message is insulting and you feel confident in it. Truth is, I've gone through massively depressed times as well. Actually from Aug 1996 until until July 2007 I was massively depressed. Thank God for kind, compassionate, and understanding individuals who helped me through it. I should be excessively kinder.

Sinead can not be judged for physical beauty, which she's always had and has ~ the beauty we see from her and love her for is from her heart ~ and always has been. Pretty faces come and go, aging comes to us all, but her beautiful spirit is a joy for us to share; I'm so thankful for her sharing.

I'll have to agree with Riot here on this one. I love Sinead's music a great deal, however, I do find some of her opinions on the world / Roman Catholicism a slight bit offensive. Needless to say, I chalk this up to her revelation last year (2007) to having been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder (Manic Depression). Just a wee bit unstable and not really using "tact" or "discretion" before voicing her opinions / actions.

In addition, I think that the weight gain can be attributed to the medication she is being prescribed to control her disorder. Lithium is notorious for causing weight gain in patients taking it. In addition, she has been through the "wringer" with regard to her personal life. A few years ago she publicly stated that she was retiring from the music industry; took out a full page ad in a local paper on how to combat head lice in children (why?); and so on. Troubled soul, but I do wish her peace.

I seen her singing with The Pogues in Belfast and she was amazing! I couldn't believe she was there, I was so excited. I absolutely adore Sinéad O'Connor. I would love to see her live like this though. She is a fantastic woman with unique spirit and fabulous voice. She is still as beautiful as ever!!
