The Balham Alligators certainly did exist, every Thursday night at the Hare & Hounds Upper St Islington. Gary the guitarist looked like Jack Nicolson & Keiran the drummer always had a bottle of JD in a paper bag. He drummed so hard the snare used to disappear across the stage. Drank himself to death aged about 42. Those were the days. Balham Alligators were legends
What a talent. It's fun to hear him booglarize tunes that you'd least suspect had the required mojo. Brave Combo used to polka-cize Who songs & such, but never approached this level of musicianship. Good stuff.
to anyone who is interested,i used to go to the half moon in putney whenever the Balham Alligators were on and when the band had a break, Geraint would stay on stage and do a duet with the fiddle players dog (jim, white alsatian)jim would sit on a stool and howl while Geraint played "old shep"....priceless
Has anyone ever seen a Balham Alligators clip at all? Do they exist? Geraint is fantastic, has anyone ever seen his Wenglish version of "No Particular Place to go?"
Agree totally, it is sinful that this man is not more well known and why hasn't he been on Jools Holland's Hootenany every year like some of the less talented musicians he has on regularly? This guy is where it's at, sings, plays with heart and spirit and nails it each time.
wise words my friend,he is indeed an underated artist.i'd never heard of him until today when he was on jonathan ross on radio 2.mark lamarr was covering for mr.ego and for my money mark does a better job.anyway, i'm glad to be introduced to geraint.he's also a very funny bloke, check out listen again on radio 2.

Technically, that's a jazz style, not blues.
