i was waiting for this device but just can _not_ switch from my pearl with sprint to this iphone with att. too many reported problems with att coverage and apple's software v.2 bugginess; i don't have the tolerance to wait for patches (doesn't anyone see the irony of an apple device being buggy like a windows device?)

the pearl is not super cool (although cool enought) and it just works.

The iPhone 3G is by far the most frustrating experience I've ever had with a phone.

- Signal bars show full strength yet calls drop or can't be made at all

- When calls do connect the sound quality is awful most of the time

- 3G data is quite often significantly slower than what I got on my old school LG8100 on Verizon

iphone 3G not only has faster data like you said, but it also has A-GPS which is awesome and i do use it a lot. I mean if you don't use those features, then no point of upgrading. And also even though its still a 2MP camera, apparently the pictures do look better as far as color and clarity goes...which is odd, but true! :D

If you buy an iPhone 3g, get mobile me. It's worth the try and it add so much to your experience. You don't have to worry if this or that email / contact/ calendar is up to date every where 'cause it is. I own a mac, an iPhone and a pc and this thing is really a must for every one that use at least one of those pushed features. I'm still on my trial period and I must say that the iPhone is not so "i" without mobile me.

Hmm, I see your point, but I believe there are a vast majority of average users buying the iphone and not mostly business users. It is a little expensive but thats why you should check your budget before you buy the iphone(you should check for all major purchases anyway) to make sure it fits like I did. I wouldnt be surprised if there are a lot of broken contracts and unpaid bills from all the "kids" and people who bought the iphone not knowing how much it would really cost.
