this is incredible!! i use ferretone to distract them, but they lick it out the cap, so this is a way easier way to do it. i'd worry myself if i did it as quick as you, to cut too far down, but i can see after doing so many you're an expert :)
thanks a bunch my ferret misu when her nails got long we tryed to cut them but she just wouldnt stay still or coaperate and we never after that got around to cutting them so her nails are VERY long and after seeing this im going to try again! thank you! now i dont have to really worry about being seriously scratched!
I think they are the easiest kind on the market. When you get to the 600 nails per clipping session, one quickly finds the best most effective product!
I just got a pair of ferrets about a month ago, I've fallen in love w/ them! But I did find if very difficult to cut their nails. So I can get this ferritone stuff at any pet store?? And I just apply it to their belly to keep them occupied, right?
If you cut a ferret's nail short enough it won't touch the ground at all--at any angle. If you cut the nail so it is straight on the bottom, it will continue to be too long. AFA states 1/8th inch from the quick. The more you cut a ferret's nails, the more the quick recedes.
I was wondering if you can use a nail file to grind their nails. I really don't know, I don't have any experience with ferrets, thanks :)

Heh.. after you cut 600 nails every two weeks, you start to get good at it. That's what sheltering does makes for loads of practice.

Ferretone skin and coat supplement. Any ferret skin and coat product works well.90- 95% of ferret like it. Almost all major pet stores carry it.

Ferritone - most ferrets love it more than anything, and it's good for them - no sugar and helps their coat and skin.
