I am shocked by the Marine commander's statement that the had consulted with the people who ran the town, namely the police. To state that the police are the authorities in American cities and not the civilian authorities, for example the mayor, is the truly telling part of this story. I am surprised that this is that big of an issue. I was a Marine from that unit in 2006 when we trained there the first time. I found that the training in Toledo very conducive to what we face in Fallujah. There was no inccidents with civilians only support from the kind civilians. We were there to train not invade or enforce marshal law. The only thing out of control is uneducated people making over the top statements.
