@MasterCSX Certain behaviours (promiscuity and lack of protection) more common in some homosexuals increase risk of some diseases. Homosexuality itself doesn't really increase risks. You can be both gay and safe sexually, and of anything the open gays tend to be pretty safe and healthy (it's the closet cases that tend to do the worst of the risky behaviours). And of course, I doubt your considering lesbians (who have much lower STD risks, including HIV risk, than straight women).
Researchers have found a gene that activates homosexuality in fruit flies? Have they found it in humans? Some creatures can fertilize their own eggs. Just because its natural for a bug, does not mean its natural for a human. Homosexuality decreases the life span in a human and puts them at risk of many diseases such as anal cancers, hepatitis, HIV and plenty more. Can flies get these diseases? Didn't think so.
Given that this research indicates, in the very least, a genetic susceptibility to homosexuality and considering that homosexual individuals don't procreate (not including surrogacy, etc, i'm talking about the whole animal kingdom as a whole) this would mean that the activation/deactivation of this gene occures every generation. Meaning if there was a way to 'medicate' it, it wouldn't matter, it's never going to go away, you would have to test and medicate every generation, proving it's natural.

Genetically inherent characteristics can also be part of the human psyche, (as one might inherit a parent's sense of humor) but in such cases it's part of their "person-hood" which should not be smothered even if becomes possible to do so.
First, your representation of the study is inaccurate. The fruit flies in question did not become "homosexual". They became what the researchers called "gender blind". In other words, it caused them to be unable to determine the gender of their intended sexual partners by impairing their sense of smell, which for them, is a strong portion of that process. Sir, you are in err. I am sure that neither you nor any group of 'scientist' have witnessed same sex mating in all species of mammals. Also, if a trait is found in a particular species that does not mean that humans should emulate that trait. Examples: some species eat their offspring; some species kill the male after mating; some species eat, regurgite, and re-eat the regurgitant; some species eat excrement, etc. If gay sex was unpleasurable to the gay, would he or she be compelled to do it.

@dereknatl my theory is that it, and transgenders, are related to asexual reproduction. Mind you i haven't been able to study this as im just a college freshman but it seems logical that the chemistry that makes someone un-attracted to the opposite sex may lead to asexual reproduction if the environmental pressures help push it that way, of course in our society they do not so it simply remains a part of the gene pool.

@MasterCSX Certain behaviours (promiscuity and lack of protection) more common in some homosexuals increase risk of some diseases. Homosexuality itself doesn't really increase risks. You can be both gay and safe sexually, and of anything the open gays tend to be pretty safe and healthy (it's the closet cases that tend to do the worst of the risky behaviours). And of course, I doubt your considering lesbians (who have much lower STD risks, including HIV risk, than straight women).

Just because its natural for a bug, does not mean its natural for a human. Given that this research indicates, in the very least, a genetic susceptibility to homosexuality and considering that homosexual individuals don't procreate (not including surrogacy, etc, i'm talking about the whole animal kingdom as a whole) this would mean that the activation/deactivation of this gene occures every generation. Meaning if there was a way to 'medicate' it, it wouldn't matter, it's never going to go away, you would have to test and medicate every generation, proving it's natural.

That's a difficult situation. Right now the world is facing ethical issues about genetic modification, mostly opposed by strictly religious believers that believe everything is as (God/deity/whoever) made it, therefore should not be changed. However at the same time the same people tend also to state that homosexuality is wrong and should be 'cured' at all costs. First, your representation of the study is inaccurate. The fruit flies in question did not become "homosexual". They became what the researchers called "gender blind". Spiritual pursuit is about giving up material attachments for the preferred higher, transcendental pleasure. Sex to generate offspring is acceptable, however homosexuality conflicts as the ensuing act will fail to produce an offspring. Of course there's no problem if ones primary interest is to maintain a hedonistic life.

Also, if a trait is found in a particular species that does not mean that humans should emulate that trait. Examples: some species eat their offspring; some species kill the male after mating; some species eat, regurgite, and re-eat the regurgitant; some species eat excrement, etc. If gay sex was unpleasurable to the gay, would he or she be compelled to do it.

@dereknatl my theory is that it, and transgenders, are related to asexual reproduction. Mind you i haven't been able to study this as im just a college freshman but it seems logical that the chemistry that makes someone un-attracted to the opposite sex may lead to asexual reproduction if the environmental pressures help push it that way, of course in our society they do not so it simply remains a part of the gene pool.
