I like his voice in opera but I believe that this is a bit overblown for Schumann. I don't think anyone should change a technique for artsong but I do think the approach should be a bit lighter. Perhaps it's just that the German feels a bit back for my tastes. Just an opinion.

Skovhus has fallen upon vocal trouble, as evidenced by this; croony straight toned overclosed performance, where his registers that are not well joined; how very sad from one I heard ten years ago; he seemd so full of promise. Another case of overexposure and wrong repertoire. :-( The pianist here is terrible, playing Schumann as if he were Liszt. He probably had the lid all the way up too, which is so invogue today bit is WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!

I totally agree. Compare this brutal and agressive rendition to Kiri te Kanawa's fine interpretation. It's obvious that she makes the Lied sound like what it's supposed to be.
a really gorgeous vid! I think pictures fit perfect and - think I´m right, yes? :) - a little ironic to lyrics of that beautiful schumann interpretation. great, thank you for sharing and please go on! :D

If someone could explain me the connection between the Lied (excellent) and the photographs with that horrible Netrebko
