Anyone who takes anything that PETA says to heart seriously needs to look more in depth at the topic being studied and acquire some more legitimate evidence before coming to any sort of conclusion. To all the people arguing that this is not cruelty. Take a good look at what these big cats are forced to do, then imagine it for yourself. Envision yourself locked in a chain link cage, forced to stand on a platform barely large enough to support your feet where you can't do more than stand on tiptoe or sit precariously. There is music blaring in your ears, spotlights blinding you, and screaming people all around.  Now someone whips something at you and tells you to jump over someone else...

I am as much of an animal lover as the next person. However, just take a good look at the tigers and elephants there. We went to the circus last night in Oakland, CA. They are NOT skinny, wounded, scarred, depressed, fearful, or anything else that Peta says to get a rise out of folks to donate to it's own organization. If an animal -- rat to tiger -- was inhumanely treated, it would show physical marks and emotional distress. It was a GREAT show! by someone who spoils her 4-pawed ones rotten.

Do you really think that just because an animal shows no physical signs of cruelty it is not abused? You haven't seen the videos of the elephants being trained, have you? You can clearly see the bleeding marks left by the bullhooks. But that's ok. Just because you didn't see any signs of mistreatment in the show ring, for that half hour or hour, the animal was being treated well for the other 23 hours of the day you didn't see it. That makes sense.

Anyone can create pictures and videos with proper computer equipment and knowledge. Peta, like Pro-Life, has long been known as a fanatical group using heart-wrenching tactics to win people over to their way of thinking. Ringling Bros. isn't some tacky circus of the past that plays to small hick towns. It's a corporation that cannot afford to hurt it's animals on which it's profits are based. Peta hates dog breeders too. We have always had healthy & good-natured collies from reputable breeders.

What I tell many PETA haters, as I encountered many of them, is to watch a documentary about the entire animal situation. It's called "Earthlings" - this vid can be streamed free on Earthlings' website or purchased via DVD.
