  • Рад, что вам понравилось :)

  • while the change to the title of 'Little Bird' "Shchedryk" became 'Carol of the Bells'...as with most politically 'correct' changes to all things Slavic during the 'sovietski' or communist era (the Red scare..), the Ukrainian lyrics speak of the 'little bird' who signals good plantings and harvest to the farmer. Many songs were Christianized, as was the song to the 'mother god', which tune became a praise to the Mother of Christ GOD, the Ever Virgin Mary. Kitka does a good rendition....

  • You guessed it, this song came from pre-Christian times.

  • remember the Sviatii Vechir (Holy Night) is Jan 6 and Nativity (Christ Mass in the West) is Jan 7 .....soooo, celebrate the Holy Nativity with us Slavs........Jan 6-7..., a Blessed Feast to ya'll.

  • That's right :)

  • actually the song is originally a Ukrainian pre-Chrisitan carol (when New Year was observed in April), in which a little bird flies to the window of a farmer to announce the coming of the new and prosperous new year

  • Yes it's true, but it was very many years ago.

  • I wish it was longer :(
