I have owned this card for the past year or so and it has been great but only when I overclock it does it really impress me, when you overclock this card from 800/100 to 900/1300 it runs 20%+ better so it can just about keep up with the 5850, now these cards can be found for so cheap, I have seen them do better then the 6850's.
I am going to add a second 5830 to my i7 1366 build.
@NOGEARS YES I UPDATED AND GUES WHAT IT STILL SUCKS NOW HAVE A I 2500K @ 4.3 AND CORSAIR VENGEANCE @ 1720 mhz AND still sucks the 5670 SO SHUT THE FUCK UP
@DutchClubSounds I have a 5670. Did you know that I've ran every game I have on max settings, aside from skyrim? Even then it runs on high settings at 80 FPS.
Duh, try updating your computer specs to high end conponents and you will see that the HD 5670 works with pretty much every game available on high settings.
How come it supplys you with 2 4 pin to 6 pin converters but on the manual it says this is a bad connection adn xfx does not support it. So my card is not compatible with my power supply now great
lol you dont need a card that can run a game at near 300 fps, wtf?, human eyes can't notice much more than 60 FPS, therefore 60 FPS is a perfect speed for any game.
standard hd5770 vs hd5970 CF+OC in a benchmark ?! wtf?! what kind of comparison is that ??! even hd 5770 vs single standard clock hd5970 woul have been overkill , dude please do benchmarks with graphic cards in the same price and performance range for better comparison
These are going for £84 over here in the UK, im debating on getting one or would it be better to spend nearly double the price on a 5870? From reviews ive read of it everyone has been happy with this card, but of course the 5870 is a beast.
can anyone help im not too knowledgeable on changing components and im looking to change my graphics card to this one and i dont know if its going to make my computer unbalenced
ok so i know that in these kind of video i would pretty much find an answer to this, does a bigger screen (24') reduce the fps in game than for example using a 17' screen?
@Diegohs7 Yes, if you run each game at the monitors max resoultion. If you run a 17" Monitor at 1440x900, and a 24" monitor at 1440x900, performance will be pretty much be the same.
hi I think about buying the graphicscard... can you give me some advice? I think about hd4870, hd4890, hd5770, and hd5830 I Will play new games with card. pls help me maybe you have some diffrent card to choose?
@darkspl you should wait for Radeon HD 6750 and 6770 to come out. They both are much more powerful than 5770 and the cheaper one is about the same price
Sorry, but these specs are wrong. I'm looking at my XFX 5830 right now, and it has memory clock of 1000 overclockable to 1300. Where are you getting 4000 from?
Many would say the GTX 460 768 is a better choice, but if you can find the 5830 significantly cheaper, grab it. Also, like I said, unless you're playing graphically demanding games, the 5770 is a good card for the lower end spectrum of the mid-range market. What are the full specs of the computer you're buying for?
@Filnizer Well... yeah actually. The clock speeds are exactly the same. But there's one thing to note: the coolers are probably different. Perhaps one is better.
Yeah, the 1gb version is better, but the 768mb is meh by comparison (particularly at higher res). And no, the 460 isn't cheaper. I just picked up a 5830 for $180.
Couldn't pass that up, particularly after Newegg, for whatever reason, decided to raise the prices of their 5830'. However, they're selling a MSI 5830 for $180 with a coupon code that expires tomorrow. Not a bad deal.
@Filnizer - "is XFX Radeon HD 5830 the same as saphire radeon hd 5830 ?"
Yeah it's technically the same card, but just from different manufacturers. They probably look different, have different cooling methods, and some prolly come with utilities such and such.I personally wouldn't worry too much about it, since the only thing I care about it performance. But if you want lots of features, research, research, research.
Low-end is like saying the i7930 is low-end just b/c it's not an i7-980X extreme edition. This card is still badass compared to the PS3, 360, and 90% of all the PC configs in the world. It's like complaining about a NY strip steak because it's not Fillet Mignon.
Great review, though. It's really a matter of opinion. Now that this card is 200, it's a steal. Getting a $500 Radeon HD 5970 doesn't make much sense, since it will be obsolete in 2 yrs.
@cvcgac different clock speeds and different sizes. Thats all really because ATI didn't make a reference design so it was up to the manufacture to make the case thingy.
@cvcgac there all different brands, so they have different features from the brans themselves so sapphire has vapor x cooling xfx has awsome xtreme cards so yeh
I really want this card but i dont know if it will do a good combo with my old Intel Pentium D (2 cores @ 2.80Ghz). What do you guys think i should do?? I only have 400bucks so i cant buy another cpu + mobo + this card halp!!
@DarkZpartan9 Well... no, don't do it. It'll all be bottlenecking, since this is a high end card. BTW: What operating system are you running? If it's below 7, then this card is a waste, since operating systems below windows 7 do not support DirectX 11.

Nvidia needs to get into the game with budget cards too. I don't think there are any challengers from nvidia against ATi in 100-200 euros/bucks price range?
Not a fanboy! I pick what fulfills what i need at what price in the moment and twice it's just been ATi :p
Okay, So there is a 543 Difference between the 5830 and the 5850 , and a 2610 difference between the 5830 and the 5770. I think I'm going to go with the 5830 because its a good replacement for the 4890!!! and also comes with a Free Version of MW2. :-)
@GooberProductionz i find this card wierd. every time i google it, i get diffrent things. one site will say it is better than the 4890, others say it is much worse, namely, techspot says its good, while guru3d, tomshardware and anandtech all say its bad.but well, 3 agenst two, so..yeah. and if you can find it, the 4890 can be as low as 200$
I just installed this card and I cannot play games like Supreme commander 2, Rome Total War, Halo, Half Life 2, and C&C. I can just play Battlefield Bad Company 2 right now, how can I fix this?
What? In a recent comparison test conducted by Nvidia (in which they compared a 5870 vs 480) the 480 was barely superior to the cheaper 5870. In fact, in another comparison test, which I just recently came across, the 5970 is shown slaughtering the 480. Here's the link (remove brackets and spaces):
[.]overclock [.] net [/] attachments [/] graphics-cards-general [/]144542d1267750111-5970-vs-gtx-480-vs-5870-5970 [.] png
You got a link? Cause the only comparison I've seen is the 480 vs the 5870. Please, show me a video where the 480 is getting 20 more FPS than the 5970.
@alextheromanian LOOOL!!! Me behind the times? Wow, such a bold statement. 5750 is a GAMING entry card, but it isn't an entry card by far. An entry card is a cheap alternative to onboard usually allowing for HD playback and to run game. By the way, have you ever watched a video of a HD4350 playing maxed out games. You'd be VERY surprised on how good these cheap cards really are. I have an HD4650 in my system and I am maxing just about everything.
the 4650 is a very good card for the money $50 on newegg, it'll play just about anything just not on a huge resolution, i'm just the type who likes the best(or almost the best)
I'm not sure how I feel about this thing. For one, it's huge, secondly, it, apparently, consumes more power than even the 5850 (according to most reviews.) Third, it cost's almost $100 more than the 5770, which it is closer to in performance (supposedly only 8-10% better). I'd probably just save up and get the 5850, it's only $40-50 more, and the difference is noticeable; or, I could wait and see if the price changes.
since when i said gpu core dosnt matter? if u look properly , nvidia had ddr3 memory (2000mghz+) but ati had ddr5 memory (4000mghz+) 295 core speed is just around 480mghz x 2 (if i remembered properly) and 5970 core clock had around 750mghz x2?
can any1 plz tell me if i can play battlefield 3 on this card???

I just installed this card and I cannot play games like Supreme commander 2, Rome Total War, Halo, Half Life 2, and C&C. I can just play Battlefield Bad Company 2 right now, how can I fix this?
TheMastroAntonio 1 year ago
@TheMastroAntonio Have you tried downloading and installing the latest drivers for your videocard?
bartjoboy 1 year ago
@bartjoboy Yeah it just took them awhile to apply I guess, everything works just fine now.
TheMastroAntonio 1 year ago
@TheMastroAntonio
Man you fucked something up big time. This thing can play MW2 like around 57 FPS, and most modern games today.
DannyGWarrior 1 year ago
@DannyGWarrior Yeah except I just stated above you that it's fixed and I played MW2 while it was free on Steam and it's not that bad of a game.
TheMastroAntonio 1 year ago
@TheMastroAntonio Well, with all the settings in CCC at stock, I get 91 fps all the time;)
rubenflush 1 year ago
@rubenflush I know the thing rapes Bad Company now.

Now, please link me your evidence. -.-
heflys20 1 year ago
You got a link? Cause the only comparison I've seen is the 480 vs the 5870. Please, show me a video where the 480 is getting 20 more FPS than the 5970.
heflys20 1 year ago
i already said "the card which comes out latest is always better" and 20fps faster? i expected more than that...wad are the gtx480 specs?
leoncarbon 1 year ago
@kubuxx1551 wad do u expect? the card who came out latest always pwn...and its not even out yet so hang on to your wallets
leoncarbon 2 years ago
and the fricking 5830 is only a $250 card and is nearly equal to the gtx 285 which is a $350, nvidia is just too expensive.
esca8652 2 years ago
and holy shit, the 5970 pawns the gtx 295 by a long shot, and that's a fucking bad ass card.
esca8652 2 years ago
You mean loooooooong rite ?

im still pissed my xfx radeon 5850 didnt come with dirt 2 :(
FaceVol5 2 years ago
Lmao. A 5830 is not an entry card. An entry card is a HD5450 or HD5570.
LauxHawk 2 years ago
entry level is 5750 5770
youre a bit behind the times.
the 5400 and 5500 series dont and wont run much of anything that is recently out.
personally id rather save up an extra 60 dollars and buy the 5850 ...knowing atleast with that i wont have to crossfire for another 3 years or so.
alextheromanian 2 years ago
@alextheromanian LOOOL!!! Me behind the times? Wow, such a bold statement. 5750 is a GAMING entry card, but it isn't an entry card by far. An entry card is a cheap alternative to onboard usually allowing for HD playback and to run game. By the way, have you ever watched a video of a HD4350 playing maxed out games. You'd be VERY surprised on how good these cheap cards really are. I have an HD4650 in my system and I am maxing just about everything.
LauxHawk 2 years ago
the 4650 is a very good card for the money $50 on newegg, it'll play just about anything just not on a huge resolution, i'm just the type who likes the best(or almost the best)
esca8652 2 years ago
lol i know right all of the 5XXX series is good for gaming but only at lower resolutions and/or games on lower settings.
esca8652 2 years ago
I'm not sure how I feel about this thing. For one, it's huge, secondly, it, apparently, consumes more power than even the 5850 (according to most reviews.) Third, it cost's almost $100 more than the 5770, which it is closer to in performance (supposedly only 8-10% better). I'd probably just save up and get the 5850, it's only $40-50 more, and the difference is noticeable; or, I could wait and see if the price changes.
heflys20 2 years ago
@heflys20 in sweden, this card is 2000kr and the 5850 is 3500kr... :S

5970 2 GB x2 DDR5
5970 owns nvidia
leoncarbon 2 years ago
video memory doesn't matter .. it's the gpu core speed that matters
enyceckk1011 2 years ago
since when i said gpu core dosnt matter? if u look properly , nvidia had ddr3 memory (2000mghz+) but ati had ddr5 memory (4000mghz+) 295 core speed is just around 480mghz x 2 (if i remembered properly) and 5970 core clock had around 750mghz x2?
leoncarbon 2 years ago
True, but he should at least benchmark two GTX295 in SLI. I just want to see the score. =P
P.S: i'm not a fan boy!! I own 4 ATI cards and 1 Nivida (2600xt, 9600pro, two 4890, and 1 8800gt)
enyceckk1011 2 years ago
im aint any either...i owned GTS250 and 8600GT..and im not satisfied
leoncarbon 2 years ago
Your mad...rite ? gtx 295 already is a double GPU'd card and if u SLI it omg ? Quad-sli wtf ?

The older 4890 performs better, costs less, but doesn't support eyefinity and dx11.
