Frantahouska, You are only choosing to believe the studies you want to believe and it's sad you are willing to take that chance given there is researh that shows a fetus can fill pain at 8 weeks because the cerebral cortex does not have to be developed, only the thalamus. And the thalamus is developed enough to feel pain. I'd be hardpressed to say that when a scientist sticks a needle in an 8 week old fetus, it's mouth opens, that the fetus doesn't feel pain.

Birthing a child and then giving it up for adoption is just as physically and mentally scarring as having an abortion. I can understand both sides of the argument here, so I don't really think we should be arguing in the first place. For young mothers especially, the idea of having a child -- ruining your body, and giving up your life basically -- is extremely scary. Some find that having a choice is comforting. I think this is understandable, even though I don't personally support abortion.
It's an abSOULute blessing being able to to go schools and churches and conventions to be able to tell my own abortion story, and do my best to save women from the pain of it. Bless this man.

I have always been pro-life because of personal ethics,

God designed the reproduction of all living things. A body needs time to develope; hence, the gestation period in the womb. That womb rejects 1/3 of all pregnancies. So whether the miscarriage is a bodily rejection or a deliberate termination, God does with miscarriages what He does.

Attempting a live birth is always a safer option if the woman's life is in danger.
On rare occasions pregnancies may have to be terminated for the physical health of the mother, but this does not mean the life of the child she is carrying has to be terminated.
The classic case is for toxaemia. Such cases do not occur until after 20 weeks gestation and the international level of viability is 20 weeks ... decisions to terminate is made as much for the life of the child as for the mother.

It is my choice to warn women of the repercussions of having an abortion - often a 'choice' made *for* them via family, societal influences and other pressures. Many women have suffered shock, horror and regret in the midst of the procedure as well as after. An experienced professional counsellor told me that every single woman she counselled post-abortion asked her the same two question in various ways. The questions were: 1) Where is my baby now? 2) What choice did I have?
Are women too not pressured to keep their unwanted babies due to religious and social values? If it is the morality of it that is the conflict, it would cease to exist if there was no conflicting viewpoint. But if we are to argue on solely on the practicality of abortions, a lot more interesting arguments like that one you brought up arise.
I stand on the decision that women should have the choice without such political and social conflicting factors.
Surely morality, religion, social values and political views are always relevant when the issue is about taking the life of a defenceless human being? In this case we are actually discussing "infanticide". Wouldn't adoption or fostering be a far better option than death? There are many loving would-be parents out there who *do* want children.
I believe women should be provided with support-counselling, other options, and advised of the health risks - prior to making any decision.
The problem here is presumption and the principle that fetuses are "defenseless human being(s)". Morality is completely subjective and as I said before, a conflict cannot exist if void of a conflicting viewpoint. Morality aside, the reality is that ultrasound PROVES the fetus / embryo to be a living, growing human being. And "I am quite sure" that if women were actually given the exact details of what an abortion entails and the risks to themselves physically and psychologically, they would choose adoption over abortion any day. In regard to animals, I believe they should not be maltreated and should be killed quickly and humanely.

Birthing a child and then giving it up for adoption is just as physically and mentally scarring as having an abortion. I can understand both sides of the argument here, so I don't really think we should be arguing in the first place. For young mothers especially, the idea of having a child -- ruining your body, and giving up your life basically -- is extremely scary. Some find that having a choice is comforting. I think this is understandable, even though I don't personally support abortion.

Attempting a live birth is always a safer option if the woman's life is in danger.
On rare occasions pregnancies may have to be terminated for the physical health of the mother, but this does not mean the life of the child she is carrying has to be terminated.
The classic case is for toxaemia. Such cases do not occur until after 20 weeks gestation and the international level of viability is 20 weeks ... decisions to terminate is made as much for the life of the child as for the mother.

It is my choice to warn women of the repercussions of having an abortion - often a 'choice' made *for* them via family, societal influences and other pressures. Many women have suffered shock, horror and regret in the midst of the procedure as well as after. An experienced professional counsellor told me that every single woman she counselled post-abortion asked her the same two question in various ways. The questions were: 1) Where is my baby now? 2) What choice did I have?

Are women too not pressured to keep their unwanted babies due to religious and social values? If it is the morality of it that is the conflict, it would cease to exist if there was no conflicting viewpoint. But if we are to argue on solely on the practicality of abortions, a lot more interesting arguments like that one you brought up arise.
I stand on the decision that women should have the choice without such political and social conflicting factors.

Surely morality, religion, social values and political views are always relevant when the issue is about taking the life of a defenceless human being? In this case we are actually discussing "infanticide". Wouldn't adoption or fostering be a far better option than death? There are many loving would-be parents out there who *do* want children.
I believe women should be provided with support-counselling, other options, and advised of the health risks - prior to making any decision.

The problem here is presumption and the principle that fetuses are "defenseless human being(s)". Morality is completely subjective and as I said before, a conflict cannot exist if void of a conflicting viewpoint. If the pro-lifer argument was to exponge its beliefs that fetuses are human beings, there would be nothing wrong with the morals of abortion. Similarly, the eating of animals was never questioned until vegetarians started attributing "Morality" to the killing of animals

Morality aside, the reality is that ultrasound PROVES the fetus / embryo to be a living, growing human being. And "I am quite sure" that if women were actually given the exact details of what an abortion entails and the risks to themselves physically and psychologically, they would choose adoption over abortion any day. In regard to animals, I believe they should not be maltreated and should be killed quickly and humanely.
Human embryos are given no anaesthetic whilst being aborted!!

Besides you say fair game? than let it live & what happens-happens, at least it's not murder. YOU GET MORE EDUCATION... 2) How do you know it doesn't feel shit? My friend had an abortion & said the baby was thrashing around inside her-no doubt in pain and fighting for it's life! (since it's our innate nature to survive).

Also, adoption centers are already over packed. And I am also quite sure that many women would nonetheless prefer abortion, especially in cases of rape and incest, over adoption. Many times childbirth could also pose life threatening risks. Why then bar women from being able to make the choice by pushing this on the political scale? If you think abortion is murder, that is fine, but how would you like it if PETA members pushed to ban meat by passing legislation?

In my country of Australia couples wait years to adopt a child, and there are scarce newborns available to parent. One hundred thousand babies are aborted annually here! (mild by comparison to numbers in some countries)
The issues of rape, incest and danger to the life of the mother are rare yet difficult cases. But - is the innocent baby to be executed for the crimes of others? Isn't the life of the baby equal to the life of the mother? and, What CHOICE does the baby have??

@HanorahDuggan That's one of the problems I have-when the pro-life/pro-abortion discussion comes up, the subject of rape always comes up -and that's such a small % of the abortions. Someone also mentioned of last trimester, but it's known abortions happen even then.. which I really don't understand.. you carried this far-why not have the baby and put it up for adoption?

I don't think people get it. This isn't about religion, it's about abortion. And it's not saying NOT to have an abortion, it's just showing what good can come out of not having one. Don't be so narrow-minded and focus on the actual message rather than being a missionary.
