My strings are 9 gauge. It's a pretty good balance, as they are light enough to easily move around, tap, and shred on, etc... yet still heavy enough to get a good thick sound out of them.

If you're unsure about your string size, try a few out, and see what you like. There's nothing wrong with either size, so it's all up to what you find feels better.

Thanks, I quite like the tone too, as it sounds great with anything from Silverstein to Jimi Hendrix.

Well, it's a Laney Hardcore MXD 30 watt and all the settings go up as high as ten. I have the crunch at just past nine, the bass at 6, the mids at 8 and the treble at seven. I don't use the special effects much at all.

I've tried power chords on an acoustic, and it really doesn't sound quite the same.

But you could always make a melody using the chord versions of the power chords that are used to play the song.

For example, if an opening riff was mostly Amaj power chords, then play Amaj chords.

Though I don't know as much about chords and acoustic guitar, you could certainly give it a try.

I kinda turned on my speakers louder to hear your voice and almost shat my pants when you strummed the guitar....

I have it on a very low volume actually, and even having my own speakers on TOP volume, I don't have a problem with the volume. It sounds just right to me, and none of my friends have said anything about the sound.

Check your volume settings, lower your speakers, and have your ears checked. The problem HAS to be just you since no one else seems to have a problem with it.

@AkanexSora Well, it's been a year since I last posted that comment and I do know that it is in fact your voice is pretty soft compared to the sound from your amp.

It's either you're the one with hearing problems, or everyone else just doesn't want to be honest.

Of course, I may be wrong. But what the hell, you're good with the damn guitar, that's for sure.
