Please, do not make SEED/00 references in this wonderful UC anime. In Asia, people don't regard non-UC setting Gundam as actual 'Gundam', but I guess Westerners only know about those imposters like 'W' and 'SEED'...

You westerners really should watch 1979 original series and then Z, ZZ, and Char's Counterattack movie, instead of watching those sellout non-UC series.

@Kalnaf Untrue. 00, Wing, and SEED were extremely popular in Japan, more popular than many UC series were. Just because they were successful doesn't mean they sold out. Of course they're different and appeal to different audiences, and you could go so far as to refer to them as "subpar", particularly S-Destiny. However, they are created by many of those who created the UC universe, and are undoubtedly Gundam. Not everybody who likes Gundam has to be a UC purist.

I love Gundam but to me it really feels cheap when they start throwing in computer animation, I've always enjoyed the fact that they put in so much time and effort into detailing every mobile suit by hand.

Kai (or at least someone who looks like him) shows up later in the books, as does Bright. Sayla hasnt been shown in a long time, and i know that Job John was alive well into the UC 0120's. he was the head designer of the Gundam F90, predecessor to the F91.

I can only think of F91 and 0080 as an example of a `late' gundam fight. In every other show it is within the first episode.

But, the episode still ROCKED. Just a couple of months for the next one.

I like the first episode, even though it ends as soon as the Unicorn launches and shifts to Destroy Mode, you we have to wait til episode 2 half a year from now to see it in action. I hate OAV release schedules, but this one looks like it'll be worth the wait. And the actual DVD and Blu-Ray release the same day (march 12 only on Amazon for two months) across the globe so I don't have to wait a year or longer for it to reach the US.

Now I need to buy the model(s).

Marida is a Cyber-Newtype. C-NTs were introduced in Zeta Gundam which premired BEFORE SEED.

Unicorn in NT-D Mode's psychoframe luminescence phenomenon is from Char's Counter Attack which premiered BEFORE 00. It is only red because it is a full body psychoframe as opposed to the Nu and Sazabi's cockpit frames.

Of course you do, but for any UC fan, that's exactly what they want. The UC is just a timeline, like they show in the first chapter, by the kids learning the history of the OYW.

thats pretty much the bare minimum for UC watching. the OVA's are short and action packed and ZZ is important because there are many mobile suits, ships, characters and locations that originally appeared in ZZ. you also might want to jump further to F91, since Unicorn explains the dramatic shift in the political situation between "early UC" and "Late UC".
