The poor devil of an interviewer probably lived long enough to see Pink Floyd become hugely respected worldwide, and beloved by-among many others-the musical 'intelligentsia' of the time (and after). Their music has since been performed by string quartets and other Classical groups. They are the epitome of what could be called anything BUT boring and childish. And this guy had to witness it all in the wake of his own rash ignorant judgements made on that television show all those years ago.
I love the guy criticizing the floyd. Too much of a musician lawll. music is right-brained and his head is too square to even lick the outside of the concept
Good performance of "Astronomy Domine". But the real appeal of the video is the interview, which is revealing, particularly Syd. Handsome, intelligent, amiable, talented, the guy had it all, perhaps too much.
One wonders if Hans Keller was paid to act the ass.
@ManilaSyndicate No, I think he was just giving his opinion as a classically trained professional musician. I don't have his training or his experience, so I won't knock his views. My own view is that it's rather amazing, but then this music is older than I am, and I have no real experience with the theory or practice of music.
Roger was more acting the ass, I think. Syd, however, answered the questions quite well.
@GoodbyeRubyTu3sday To him, but he's not listening for what we're listening for. He has formed his idea of what good music is and it doesn't meet his criteria. At least he can define his standards. I can't define mine. All I know is that I like it.
@bobdy9988 You, on the other hand, I imagine adorned with supremacist tattoos and Nazi paraphenalia hanging from your piercings. The Sturmabtielung and their kind are the only people I know of who would advocate that sort of thing.
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
I think Hans Keller would kill himself nowadays if he thought the music then was too loud and repetitive.
