  • 5 dislikes??!! Are you kidding me? You must be kidding me!

  • Har

  • kool

  • Devo rocks

  • It's not quite right to say that DEVO were ahead of their time as that suggest that the rest will eventually catch up, when in fact they are getting further and further away....devolving, if you will...

  • Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, YEAH, YEAH, YEAH!!!!!

  • I see where The Hives got their stuff from..

  • Super greatness!!

  • Re: The opening....

This only a test: Had this been actual comedy, you would have been amused. We now return you to your regularly scheduled, far superior entertainment.

This has been a test: We're all DEVO.

  • They deserve to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. PERIOD!

  • Bob Mothersbaugh = Guitar God

  • I got to scream and shout it!

  • If you don't love Uncontrollable Urge there may not be hope for you. It's the second hardest rocking DEVO song ever (the hardest being the "Mr. DNA" half of Smart Patrol/Mr. DNA) and here, our spud heros rock it harder than most bands ever dream they could. When Devo kick the snot out of songs like Wiggly World, Strange Pursuit, Smart Patrol/Mr. DNA and Uncontrollable Urge, they are in a league of their own. Thirty years later and these spud boys are STILL ahead of their time.

  • Hey that Japanese girl band in Kill Bill did that yeah yeah yeah line in one of their songs in the movie. I never knew they stole that from Devo......

  • I saw them in concert in 1981, and this video comes the closest to any I've seen of capturing what their live performances were like. They really were this fast and precise, and they made it look easy. They started marching in place at the beginning of their first set, and they never stopped until intermission. They just segued from one song to the next -- no pauses, no patter, no nothing. It was kind of superhuman.

  • Are they not men?! HELL YES! That performance was amazing! I have replayed this videos about 20 times. I love the YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! YEAH!......YEAH, YEAH, YEAH, YEAH!!!!! Totally freaking cool! I also miss this kind of music. I miss the energy, the watts, the power, the voltage that this era of true Rock n' Roll music had 30 years ago. Why in the hell can't music be like this today? This stuff totally kicks ass.

  • the most original band in the world, DEVO or the B-52's? I love this 'song! WOW!

  • Devo had a great shtick.

  • ARGH DEVO NOM NOM NOM!

  • The Real Ghostbusters! Devo makes me feel good x

  • killer performance!

  • Rob Dyrdek

  • Rob Dyrdek shouldn't be using this song on his failed abortion of a show

  • One of the koolest bands i ever seen

  • I saw that performance LIVE on TV - Still GREAT

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • One of their freakin' tightest performances! AWESOME!!

  • Cool performance.

  • Take a Pill!!!

  • I remember Fridays, live from LA on friday nights, better than Saturday Night "unfunny" Live, more like Saturday Night Dead.

  • They were my first concert ever.

  • They were my first concert ever.

  • A great band from Champaign-Urbana used to cover this - Hot Glue Gun. That made me search this out, and I'm not disappointed. I love the Misty Mountain Hop riff. Check my channel for some good blues slide guitar music. Not much like this, I guess...but if I like this, and you do too...well, maybe you'll like it!

  • INCREDIBLE BAND that deserved tremendous accolades, and more! Wahi' loved you!

  • quote: "...music like yours, it comes along once in a lifetime..." Still, more than 30 years later, there's NOTHING even close, quite like them ;-)

  • Are their guitars wireless or something?

  • I love how they started with a distorted version of I Wanna Hold Your Hand. They were influenced by the Beatles, and so were so many other bands!

  • What a bunch of NERDS. If they were in high school with me I would have given them all atomic wedgies and then stuffed them all in a locker.

  • @johnny07652 lol@ Devo being extremley succesful and doing what they love for loads of cash because they do it so well.

  • @johnny07652 you don't want to insult a band whose major fan base is comprised of insanely devoted nerds. they tend to be more liable to snap and hunt you down for insulting their favorite band as opposed to fans of a less magnificently nerdy band.

  • @darthfrodo44 I'm not worried about NERDS hunting me down. All they'll do is roll a seventeen-sided die and tell me I lost hit points and expect me to pretend I died. At which point I will stuff them all into the nearest locker. Plus I'll call my frat brother Ogre over and he'll terrorize them.

  • @darthfrodo44

Don't bother with the unevolved closeminded guy posting hate. Persons like that are incapable of independent thought. Let him enjoy his brainwashed, sheepish mindset.

  • @johnny07652 That's why you're an unemployed slob, and they are still making millions....lmao!!!

  • IMHO the most intense new wave/punk song EVER pistols PIL etc nup this song sums it up for me m49 i was there :)

  • reiminds me to howard devoto.(television)

  • @ronaldvanderkleij; If I'm not entirely mistaken Howard Devoto was one of the founding members of the british band Buzzcocks, and had nothing to do with Television (even though they are both great bands).

  • Awesome! With the great Led Zeppelin's guitar riff from "Misty Mountain Hop".

  • 2 people had an uncontrollable urge to hit the dislike button

  • Are they not men??? unbelievably great performance. These guys were far too ahead of their time and MADE for the video age. They were unique, original and creative even if you didn't like their music or some of it you have to respect the fact that they stuck their necks out by boldy trying something different. I miss this kind or creativity and originality in music.

  • @patlavert Yep, the 80's was a very unique time for music that showed TRUE musical diversity! These days everyone sounds the same. Like a bunch of whiny ass cry babies with nothing to sing about and no political point to make. Back in the 80's a good 80% were making a statement and had thier own creative talented sound. There's no more true talent or creativity anymore........The talent pool has officially dried up!!!

  • @Xcorgi

I don't know if the talent pool is officially dried up. It does seem so though when one looks at the charts. I see mostly shallow, bland, talentless, prefabricated and completely overrated dung like Beeber for example. Or mindless "same old lyrics same old beats" rappers. I believe there are some bands out there "on the fringes" like Devo was but they are hugely ignored because the powerful record companies rarely seek them out. That's too bad for us, the fans/consumers/customers.

  • i like it a lot.

  • LOVE IT !

  • Devo was here...

  • This song is so fucking sick, it bums me out that I didn't write it.

  • I love how random, yet so much fun Devo is.

  • 1:10 vid starts

  • i always loved DEVO because everyone else hated them

  • i have an uncontrollable urge to keep listening to this song over and over. excuse me a moment while i go satisfy that urge.

  • Never been anyone else like them. LOVE THEM

  • fuk yea

  • peaple that are bad and die go to hell, peaple that are good and die go to heaven, peaple that are DEVO and die go to A NEVER ENDING DEVO CONCERT!!

  • always THE BEST!!!!

  • I must see them before I die.

  • FUCK YES

  • Purchased first album and was die hard fan even before they played Satisfaction on SNL. But after our high school cheerleading squad developed a routine to "Whip It", I felt my anti-establishment band was stolen from me.

  • @LeggoMyLamb So in 1980 or so you were down with "anit - establishment" thought? Cause of your HS... and gave up on DEVO?

    Sigh....

  • @LeggoMyLamb If DEVO comes up and someone says "Yeah Whip it!" I irrevocably hate them

    DEVO>whip it! = Nirvana>Smells like teens

  • Infuckingcredible!

  • yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, YEAH!

  • At it's core, this stuff is as hard as any Rammstein or Slayer or whatever, if ya know whutahmean.

  • Fuck, Devo is so good. I hate that if I mention them people automatically assume "Whip It!" is my favourite song.

  • @savanahslamma

I totally get that. Purchased first album and was die hard fan even before they played Satisfaction on SNL. But after our high school cheerleading squad developed a routine to "Whip It", I felt my anti-establishment band was stolen from me.

  • @savanahslamma Story of my life, friend.

  • 3:36 and forward is epic

  • I remember being surprised to see my "Spud Boys" from Akron introducing their underground 70's music to an 80's mainstream Top 40 TV audience. It just didn't fit right. But at least it was on "FRIDAY'S" instead of Donny and Marie. It worked out well though. As would have it, it turned out to be an awesome live performance!

  • @Traductus5972 Well ok but I always liked Duty Now equally. Bought it on vinyl the week it came out and still have it

  • DEVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Do you know your Bob?

  • There's nothing wrong with the video...thanx for posting. It's just that woman at the beginning who's so irritation.

  • If it weren't for bands like Devo, music wouldn't evolve as rapidly. And for that, we all must thank Devo. :P

  • You mean "de"volve ;-)

  • Love this song

  • Oh my god I have not seen this show with

devo in over 25 years ! god bless you margent ! god do I miss the 80's
