they do have tap plates on their shoes... they are in sync and not floor mic-ed. that is why it seems like there is no noise. they wouldn't have loosened their plates either back then- which makes the sound tighter. plus, tapping on a tv show sound stage... not the best floor...

just because it wasn't clear doesnt mean it was a mistake - I point out Patti again - I rarely understand what she is saying when she sings this - she sings well and is a good performer, but i stand by what I said

and besides it is ridiculous to say that she was distracted by the whistle - because that would have been part of the direction, so she would know that it was going to happen

@earlady66 Thank you for the compliment. Yes i've worked with EP since and she is a true pro (as she was then). During AG she was a little feisty, but that's to be expected from a person of that stature. But as a straight dancer, you could work it a little and she loved to give it back!! All in all she was great in the show. However, this was John Barrowman's debut.....he was fun!

Hey, after seeing this video and after having watched CATS on DVD for the millionth time (I AM OBSESSED.), one must ask, how exactly did she end up not doing Broadway anymore??? I know I've only just begun to actually pay any attention to Broadway, but so far, I've never seen anyone on the stage quite like her... :| Unless maybe you count someone like Jo Gibb or the woman who played Bombsy, but I'm talking about outside of CATS and outside of normal movies.

This is such a good song and Elaine sings it so well. She makes a mistake but she covers it up really well. I never liked her music when I was a kid but now I really appreciate what a great singer she is.
