What I've done, is basically what a DJ does. Take a finished piece, break it up. And put it together differently. It's like an essay; you try to make a point by sampling, or quoting other people's work. Of course, you give credit to the original author.

I am taking a film from a different genre & making it my own,allot of editing went into the footage.All of the audio doesn't even belong to the scenes that I have combined them with,so the art here is in the editing.Finally this clip,as well as my other films,got me into film school,where out of approx 1500 applicants only 50 got in.Also,if you re-arrange a Beatles song,& add new elements to it; its called mixing,which is what DJs like fat boy slim and Moby do.clearly it's not a lower art form

Also "aperson", re-arranging the placement of SONGS on an ALBUM & try to pass it off as you're own is clearly plagiarism & not smart at all.But that clearly not what I've done. I've made a horror trailer, not a different movie. And that is the art. Plus doing this is very popular. there is even film festivals dedicated to it. Also if you've ever seen the experimental film Collage d'hollywood by Richard Kerr that was made entirely of re-edited movie trailers, and that film is used in classrooms

Hehe...at first I was all, "They used that as a teaser trailer?" and then I realized it was a fan thing. They should've used it as a teaser trailer...and tricked people into seeing it. I love that movie soo much.

Well ESOFSM is a Romance. But I wouldn't consider calling it a thriller. There isn't enough mystery or action. Plus a thriller is defined by its approach 2 the subject matter and not by the subject matter itself. So if Gondry had intended this 2 be a thriller he would have made the characters of Patrick and Stan more diabolical. That's my P.o.v at least; I'm trying 2 put everything I learned at good ol' film school together, sorry if it was 2 long of an answer.
