@InstantClubHit I can somewhat agree to that. I used to be a hard core nascar fan, but now, its a complete joke, with the exeption to the road courses, martinsville, darlington, and the restrictor plate tracks, nascar sucks now. If you want to watch real oval racing, go watch the World of Outlaws, or USAC midgets, or the chili bowl, thats what oval racing should be like. Im not a diehard road fan, but i admire the skill of road racers (rain racing, no spotters, open wheel) and watch ocasonally
Brilliant video. I'd love to see F1 there, but given Laguna wasn't designed by Hermann Tilke on a computer making it incredibly boring, we'll never see it.
When will F1 realise that exciting circuits have elevation changes?
they already do... Spa.. Monaco.. Suzuka... Nurburgring... Fuji.. A1... The circuits in saudi arabia and other asian circuits are quite boring to watch though... but they are the best circuit for F1 cars as they were designed that way.. elevation is more intresting, so are historic venues..
Also keep in mind that they were using a medium tire compound, Zonta mentions this in another video. If they went with a real soft compound it would knock at least another second off that time. I can only imagine what Schumi would do if he was really pushing it in the 2006 Ferrari.
Seeing as the TF-106 is probably the 5th best car in F1 at the moment, soemthing like the Renault or Ferrari would probably have been 1 second quicker again! Cool vid tho.
they should have brought the 2005 car, with the V10, it would have been quicker and sounded better. :P

There was a lot more time to be found there, he could have pushed it a bit more.

@jamw2007 Toyota bringing their '05 car would have made a hell of a lot of difference too.

gipfeli 3 years ago
The Ferrari F2004 with soft compound would bring this time AT LEAST 4 seconds down!

@lukeCART1 No it didn't, since champ cars are 8 secs off f1 pace.

Laguna is too short of a track for an F1 Grand Prix... only if they could extends it...

Indianapolis is an embarrassing venue. Laguna is really the place for F1.

This test was in 06? 2 years after the last Champ Car race... It would be interesting to see the new 07 Champ Car there.

Zonta is Flying!! Those Champ Cars must have been wickedly quick; considering the CART record was broken by litte more than a second. But Bravo!!
