actually i already run this stuff with my 256 MB ram and 1.00 GHZ but its kinda deadly slowpoke with the use of live cd... but i loved the interface...

once it's installed in the system it'll be a lot faster, that's just a bit under my specs and it ran very nicely..if you want a reaaaallly fast system try damn small linux

I think it'd run horribly...but still run. the live cd would be even slower. wouldn't recommend running gos on a system like that, but go ahead and try it if you want...

It's running on live cd. so it depends on how fast your cd-rom is. But after installation, its quite fast (imo, I think it's faster than ubuntu itself).

I was running it in a VM, and compared to other OSes running in VMs, it worked horribly slow for me... Maybe I'll also try it on bare metal one day.

Not really, any operating system can get a virus. But the chances of a linux based OS is very slim but not impossible. The reason Windows has so many viruses out there for it, is because it is so widely used. Thus it would make more sense (for hackers at least) to attack the biggest os out there. Even cells phones can get viruses now.

I agree. Someday if Linux will be the dominant OS in the world I bet hackers will surely make viruses and worms for it and steal data and make money. At the moment Windows OS is the logical target for them.

No, google doesn't make it. Someone can host a file using google, allowing you to download it from there. gOS is 3rd party freeware that's focused on google, but isn't made by google.

LaLaLaLa... just more Google nonsense as always. Linus as much as like it, isnt going anywhere fast. MSFT has a large franchise and larger installed base in the corporate world which isnt going away. Linux like Geos and Beos never took off. Its great fun for hobbyist however.

IT is Ubuntu, it is just a theme+distribution of packages atop Ubuntu. Also google OS, is not this, Google OS is a internal distribution of Ubuntu that only Google uses.

I'd look to puppy linux which can be stuffed on a USB device. Linux Mint is nice.. I've never had much luck with gOS, it looks like more a commercial effort than a user driven one.

Not exactly. Google OS is based on Linux Ubuntu Motor.

If you boot the Google OS CD in live (Without Installing it), you're find the same boot menu CD from Ubuntu.

This Operative System is very Fast.

Linux sucks for editing movies. There are two applications that you can run natively (that is, without wine) for linux. Kino is one of the them, and is insanely hard to use for the newbie linux user.

Kino is great for transfering DV video over firewire from a camera, you have to run it as root though because the firewire device is not usually accessible as a normal user (Ubuntu 7.10).

Blender's video sequence editor can be used to edit videos, non-destructively, which is a video editing approach that isn't common to users of programs like moviemaker in windows XP. I've got videos that show how to edit video with blender. It's just the developers of blender designed it to do too much.

See my tutorial on using blender to edit videos.. It's a cross platform 3D application, but it has a non-destructive video editor in it that often goes unnoticed.. I've used it to edit and render video with audio in Ubuntu. I don't do any video work on Windows anymore as a result. Note, it has support for wipes and transition curves and plugins. The only problem is no plugins for audio, but the source code is free, so there is hope someone will add support for that. There is video plugins.

Okay elightenment that's right.. You mean the window manager.. Ubuntu uses Gnome, which is slow, but it has good reason, it uses CORBA behind the scenes which is a platform independent data abstraction protocol, turns everything into objects.. Meaning that it wraps stuff up in heavily standardized object oriented bureaucratic protocols in interest of keeping things well integrated.. Other Window Managers are: XFCE, Enlightenment, KDE, OpenSTEP, etc..

I don't know the name of icon dock. It's come pre-installed, i didn't customise any things. They used Enlightenment Window Manager instead of gnome.

Btw, this is just OS and Links nothing more than that. To take advantage of this OS you need internet.
