In her side of the family she has family with red hair, green eyes and freckles (perhaps irish or scotting people went to puerto rico? Who knows.). Liar ! There are some people who are pure !!! The only ones who are most likely not pure are Taino/Arawak Indians- they mixed with some well many of the Spaniards and Africans.
The only groups of people which are pure, not all but some are pure White/Spanish and some are pure black/African.

I know people who live in Puerto Rico who are only 3rd or 4th generation Puerto Rican who are pure, they haven't been in Puerto Rico 400 years to mix and mingle like the spaniards, africans and tainos did originally...and they aren't any "less" puerto rican just cause they are 3rd generation...once again, "puerto rican" is a nationality....whoever is born in PR is a puerto rican, there's areas where you'll see pure chinese people who were born in PR as well as their parents and grandparents.

More than just 3 races, we all know about the Spanish, African and Taino, we learn that in school, but what books rarely mention is the fact that we also had thousands of immigrants from China, India, France and plenty Syrians...and they all mixed with the 3 races you speak of, creating a universe of ethnicities in our little island...so not all Puerto Ricans have just the "3 races" and "Puerto Rican" is a nationality, not a race...we say "la raza boricua" but in reality, its "las razas". The more accurate to call Tainos would be Native Americans rather than Amerindians. The terminology known as "Indian" or "Indio" was based on the fact that the Spaniards mistook the natives for the people of the Indian subcontinent. A Puerto Rican himself told me his father's family practiced it. His father's family are all white, but they would intermarry with cousins and second cousins. The Dominican Republic also does it. I know its happening in PR. DRs are floating in there by the thousands. You know why? Because nearly one and half million Haitians have made D.R their home. Some of those "DRs" floating to PR are even Haitians themselves. Its a Domino Effect all through out.

Yeah, I'm going to blunt about it. Some aspects of the separation have racial undertones behind it, but its not the only factor like you said. If DR had an open border to Haiti, the entire island would be poor like Haiti and not only that but most of the "Hispanic" culture would be drowned out by Haitian culture or at least severely diluted. DR doesn't want more blacks than it already has lol and you know what I mean. They would go crazy if they brought them all in.

Ditto. Im fully puerto rican. My mom has auburn hair (when she was a child she was a red head) with freckles and everying. In her side of the family she has family with red hair, green eyes and freckles (perhaps irish or scotting people went to puerto rico? Who knows.). But she also has these native american high cheek bones and olive skin. Thats her taino side. While my dad is mostly african.

The entire island is not all mixed, besides many people of European descent have been making PR there home over the last few decades in increasing numbers. Thirdly, I have visited PR twice and there are more whites on that Island than I ever seen in the states. If you do some research you will see that there has been an increasing influx of Europeans settling there. Shit, I know a PR who is of German ancestry.

its only in those regions throughout latin america were you dont see whites,mulattoes, but instead people of majority african heritage were u see the embracing of roots. I mean were else in pr do u find a loiza. look at the negros de la habana del esta, the panamanians, and most importantly the garifunas of central america. These are all regions known to be of almost pure african heritage. Most regions have lost touch with there roots due 2 blending in with societies ignorance
