  • The advice applies quite perfectly to Beckett, who, incredibly, wrote his trilogy in French, a sustained attempt to escape Joyce's gigantic shadow and strip his prose down to its 'fundamental sounds'. Denis Johnson quotes Merwin unashamedly in a middling novel; just enough to send me out to buy all the local bookstore has in stock. Thanks for posting this.

  • Lovely man and his lovely poetry...

  • I really liked your channel and this video. If you need any help getting this video exposed I use a site called tubeviews.(net) It has really helped like 20 of my main videos get to the top in position. Its nice.

THIS WORKS! Its amazing.. THANK YOU SO MUCH DUDE!!!!!!

  • Funny about oxygen being sucked out of the air in academia.

  • Beautiful poem

  • These videos are great to see! Need more things like this on youtube. I am a poet and have also made some films on poets. One of them is on Irish poet Desmond O'Grady who was also a friend of Ezra Pound's and has similar things to say as Merwin says about discipline and translation.

Part of his film is on youtube and I also have a site on myspace with videos. keep uploading! Thanks. Adam Wyeth
