6)Salehi was also trying to argue against what he refers to as "Ghullaat tendencies" amongst some of the Ulama(the belief that the Imam has to know everything in the past present and future) he argues that the Prophet and Imams, even though they were endowed with divinely given knowledge, were not aware of every minute detail of what happens in the world.

8) Over all Salehi's work was a work of a mujtahid's analysis of the rise of Imam Husayn. His analysis may or may not be accurate. Hence, due to its ijtihadi nature, another mujtahid is not obligated to accept everything that Salehi has written as gospel truth heck neither are we. Infact he was responded to a few times and he responded back

9)Moshiri goes on about hadiths vs history. This is a clear example of his misunderstanding of the usage of sources by Salehi. Where do you think those sources got their information from? Those are all Akhbaar-i-Taarikhi in the form of a hadith (i.e. They have an isnaad (chain of narration) and a matn (text) as do all other Musnad (hadiths with a chain of narration going..

10)Montazeri in his Khaterat, actually speaks about the role of the Shah backed Savak and how they caused this whole ordeal to intensify immensely.

why would the savak, a secular intelligence agency, really care about the history of Imam Husayn when it does not effect them? because they knew that Salehi's message was relevant to the situation in iran: the muslims rising up against a tyrant (here being the Shah regardless of how you feel about him, the man was a prick)

11) Moshiri claims that only the family of Imam Husayn remained. This is false many of his supporters remained as well as some who deserted Yazid's army to join Husayn.

Obviously those who joined Imam Husayn knew that they would probably become killed seeing the size of Yazid's army vs the small camp of Husayni followers. They must have joined for another reason: because in their hearts they felt that the truth was with Imam Husayn. they UNDERSTOOD the message of Imam Husayn's rising: That he is willing to die rather than have to live in humiliation under a tyrant's rule.

Bahram Moshiri is an idiot. First off he totally twists what Marhoom Salehi Najafabadi was trying to accomplish in Shaheed Javeed:

1)Salehi was trying to explain the revolution of Imam Husayn in the light of the circumstances of the Imams time and not based on any preknowledge of the exact details of the battle of Karbala.

2)Salehi never denied that the Imam knew that one day he is to become martyred. He just argues for what, in his opinion, are evidences that the Imam might have not known..

in detail all the details of his martyrdom. (this was, according to Salehi, the opinion of Sharif Murtadha, Shaykh Mufid and Shaykh Tusi (3 of the highest ranking scholars of early Shia islam)

3) in NO way was Salehi trying to downplay the martyrdom of Imam Husayn, he was trying to explain it in a way so that people can learn from the lessons that Imam Husayn has left for us. In fact he was trying to defend the Imam against accusations made by the enemies of the Shia.

4)This book was revolutionary for its time mainly because 1)it questioned what many were saying on the minbars 2)the author was supportive of Khomeini's protests against the Shah. 3)the Savak, meddled in these affairs to further the divide between the Ulama and the Khomeini/Montazeri camp.

5)over all Salehi was trying to explain that Imam Husayn's revolution is a lesson for all Muslims and that the Imam had to rise up and fight injustice. This is the meaning of the whole event of Karbala.
