  • dark materia :)

  • interesting video and very informative

  • very interesting thanks

  • some really good stuff here

  • Is "ubermonkey120" serious?? Or is he mocking the better 85% of Americans?? If he's joking, then it's funny because it's true. If he's really like that, I can only offer him this advice; get a gun, get a bullet, put in mouth, and pull that trigger!!!

  • @ubermonkey120 has your girlfriend seen sense yet and dumped you? 4 months after that tyrade seems like plenty of time to me.

  • @ubermonkey120 ---- RETARD

  • This is so beautiful. I have no words.

  • If there was ever a time we could use Carl Sagan, it would right now. All the great legends seem to be gone when society needs them the most.

  • I like to call them flatworlders! They are incapable of discerning the Forrest though trees.

  • Billions!

  • Religion= a ugly aggressive dumb human way of thinking Science= a beautiful elegant way of thinking

  • boring loser.all you guys are loser nerds go get girlfriends instead of listening to nerd boy up there lol

  • @ubermonkey120 So how come you're listening to this?? :O Stupid douchebag

  • @ricois3 I was copying it down for my essay I had to do over summer. At least nerds are good for something.fucking losers..

  • @ubermonkey120 LOOOOOOOOOOOL i've just seen your channel... No wonder why nobody likes you! You cant just go around being such a little kid and insulting other. Well, you just have ALOT to learn from life.

  • @ricois3 I'm not a lil kid nigga,i wurk over the summur and sumtimes i have sexx.im not kid.i seen my dad get killed

  • @ubermonkey120

way to go g u show em

    respect yo

  • @AndonutsJeff thanks

  • @ubermonkey120 Dude your mad cool. I should hang out with kids like you. Maybe I'll be a nobody someday too!

  • @thebigbluedino Fuck u niiggug i hve frends and shit nigger peice of shizzzzz

  • @ubermonkey120 Dude. Your embarrassing yourself quit talking.

  • @thebigbluedino Fuck you bigbluedildo piece of shizzzzz i hoe you die space nigger.

  • @ubermonkey120 What you mean to say is "Fuck you thebigbluedino you piece of shit. I hope you die in space, Nigger" But since you probably have the education equivalent to a 2nd grader it's ok to look as stupid as you do. Quit talking when you learn how to spell and talk to me like a normal person then come back and try to insult me.

  • @thebigbluedino I'm supposed to be in 9th grade.im not goin though cuz i aint no peice of shitt neeerd.i already workin at a walmart so i can already afford to live on myy own bitch.im gunna move out in 6 munths to live with my gfs in an apartment we all workin and we gonna do gud

  • @ubermonkey120 Dude just because someones "Smart" doesn't make them a nerd. It's better to be smart than to not. People who are generally smarter are a lot more successful in life dude. Hard work pays off.

  • @thebigbluedino i am wurkin' hard i dont need dat skool shizz.its for gay nerds and it jusst holds u back and wastes u time.

  • @ubermonkey120 HOW DOES IT HOLD YOU BACK. People who go to college make an average of $900,000 more than someone who has an high school education. You're fucking working at wal-mart thats not impressive. You probably don't like school because you were no good at it. Jesus Christ either your really stupid or your doing this to make me angry lol.

  • @ubermonkey120 Oh and I know your a troll, I just went through your page and you talk all normal to everything else you posted on.

  • @ubermonkey120 Hmm ... Walmart has NO future for you! Perhaps if you finished school you would realize that Walmart likes to enslave their employees by not hiring them full time so they don't have to give them any benefits ... in case you know what benefits are. And perhaps you should also finish school so you know how to spell correctly. You may be able to get promoted to "manager" at Walmart, but for that you need to know how to spell. Good luck! Hope you wake up from your dream some day.

  • @ubermonkey120 nerds are people too they think the same like you many nerds have not girlfriend so why discriminating us I dislike discriminating even we are nerds other races maybe you can read about astronomy many eveven people some not are nerd read astronomy Einstein For Example He Was not nerdy He have low caracter in Math

for Example so think over it every people are unique you have skills you can have use for :-)

  • Admired!

  • 1 person is a flat earther

  • i could fall asleep listening to his voice

  • @superstrok99 I wish Carl Sagan can tell me a bedtime story...

  • @superstrok99 I've done so many times. Put on the cosmos tv programs and snooze off.. dreaming of galaxies :P

  • @TheOnlyMeta it's not a catastrophe if people aren't hurt by it. It's not something I'm worried about, that's for sure. The universe is a beautiful thing

  • @TheOnlyMeta Yes i see u get it. :)

  • @TheOnlyMeta No it wouldn't be catastrophe. It would be normal cosmic process. Collision would take billions of years. Process would be so slow no one would notice anything. And galaxy material is condensed in stars that are more that few lights years away. Between stars gravity is so weak that is highly unlikely that will stars will collide each to other. Yes, if you calculate density of galaxies they are mostly empty.

  • @ntLonky It's more empty that air.

  • Amazing

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaWIR AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWIIWWIIWIWIWIWIWIWwiwii ALLO ALLO!AJUSIAF JAISFIS

    ALLSO SOSOSOSOSO{ FAGGOT ADVERT JATOAN

  • I wonder what Carl Segan thought of Douglas Adams, or Steinslaw Lem's concept of aliens?

  • ... why am I in the mood for a Dew?

  • Love Carl... /sigh. Love to think he's cruisin' the Cosmos in his Ship of the Imagination. =)

  • i am u you r me if you dont get that you are fucked lol

  • As revealed by SCIENCE. Not religion.

  • Us looking in to space is kind of like in those movies when people can move so fast that everything appears to be frozen

  • lol, at the startrek computer hes using

  • carl sagan got a T.A.R.D.I.S.?

  • muito bom

  • Does anyone know which of the 13 episodes this is?

  • I miss Dr

  • 22,000 views ?.... thats the problem

  • or believe the sun is in the center of our solar system

  • Is it me, or does Carl Sagan sound a lot like Agent Smith from "The Matrix"

  • @kjm0227 Nope, its not just you:) He sounds very much like Agent Smith.

  • @kjm0227 He sounds like a mix of Kermit the Frog and Agent Smith.

  • @toolover10 hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • Carl Sagan was the best narrator. I miss him.

  • Watching this is hypnotic. Do you agree?

  • @salvadormarley it is not hypnotnic God create us so wee can feel majestic wee cannot even understand how big universe are when i hear this my head blast off because universe are so big :-)

  • i can't believe only 18,615 people have viewed this video. no wonder there are still retards out there that still believe in god. science is the best thing ever to happen to mankind.

  • @mrryanr33 or believe the Earth is 6-10,000 years old.

  • @anthonytd103 more 15 million year

  •  <<---- whats this and how do i do it?

  • Great video Carl !!! 

  • Great job again,Carl n fantastic vidio!!

  • (is u-tube available? I'm tired of typing comments n find to no avail n have to retype it all over, again)

  • I saw this episode today, those simulations are pretty good, one of the few like that I've seen, think how trippy it must've been then, Cosmos was amazingly well made!

  • God made billions of galaxies because he and FEW humans will live eternal

If you are going to live forever and keep creating beings like angles humans and others we probably don't know about arnt you going to need and endless array of galaxies think about it if you live forever you will need an endless space to explore

  • @ferrarimike23 Oh, and what evidence do you have for god having anything to do with anything? And in fact, how do you know god even exists or did exist?

    ...

  • this is deep

  • @WOWJBEOWULF

    Wormholes work better.

  • @Germanboy567 but Spaceships are a reality, wormholes, maybe not and who will go in it? You! :)

  • @bengacris

Wormholes not a reality? Alright, I guess you're pretty much saying that the LHC doesn't exist.

  • Billions of galaxies in the 10-billion-light-years viewing range, and we still are stuck on Earth. We need starships.

  • Truly awe-inspiring. The cosmos is so beautiful in its complexity that at times I'm filled with a euphoric rush of joy at having this privilege to live for just an insignificant minuscule amount of time in the grand scheme of the Universe. When you have this kind of perspective all the small insignificant troubles in your life just slip away and even the bad things seem beautiful in a way.

  • @derekxnl i feel the same way.

  • @derekxnl i feel exactly the same. i hope i'll be able to study physics and later astronomy.

  • Lier below.

  • Hmmm, why did God make billions and billions of galaxies in the universe, but only select one, including the pale blue dot, just to watch us for his appeasement?

  • @amorphousguy Cause he's the biggest troll ever! FFUUUUUU! haha

  • @amorphousguy There's just no God, an alot more of planets with life on them can exist, and look Europa, Jupiter moon, a moon who could contain life

  • I think the most hilarious thing he says is "Galaxies sometimes blow themselves up..." I'd like to take that out of context any day

  • This century will mark humanities first fumblings out of our solar system. People living today will actually get to see other worlds first hand and we may even know of living things on other worlds.

As humanity moves forward we will see this as probably our most pioneering moment, as well as our most embarrassing. Thinkers like Sagan will be an excellent guide for our collective consciousness.

  • look at how fast technology has advanced in the last 50 years alone. by the time the sun burns out, we will be long gone from earth, either wiped out or already moved on :P

  • It seems like the only way I'm going to visit another galaxy is if it comes to me.

  • @DioMarti If you were a biologist then you should know hes basically teaching 101 astronomy

  • I am one I was jusk trying to make a joke dude.. Carl Sagan is so amazing.. Cheers!

  • Damn I had to watch a stupid University of Phoenix commercial to watch this video. University of Phoenix is a scam, google search it. Type "Phoenix University Scam". Lots of students have complained and there's class action law suites against them.

  • @themagus187

Get AdBlock Plus for Firefox. I have never seen a commercial on YouTube, save the ones I purposely search for.

  • @themagus187 Wait a minute, are you saying my doctor was scammed? OMFG!

  • we all gone die

  • And that makes us the lucky ones.......

  • I love all the videos, but why they're not complete

  • copyright, sorta the same concept as stealing the video and giving it away free to a potential audeince of over 1 billion people.....

  • if everything is moving equaly away from a central point, how can galaxies collide? I mean, how could a galaxy change its path if its moving equally away from each other?

  • there is a battle between the forces of gravity between the two galaxies (which is trying to pull them together) and the expansion of the universe (which is trying to pull them apart). With galaxies that start out quite close together, it is almost always gravity that wins, so in the end the galaxies will collide. This will most likely happen to the Milky Way and the Andromeda galaxy (our nearest large neighbour) in a few billion years

  • Just because the galaxies collide doesn't mean our planet will. Just like ours the andromeda galaxy is mostly empty.

  • yes, i looked farther into it, aparently there is a half decent chance of survival, unfortuneatly not when our sun dies :(

  • Who knows... If the human rave will still exist when it's time for the sun to die, they may have the technology to survive it ;)

  • @MrMalavon your right, but the gravity between the sun and earth would change causing extinction of mankind, but thats billions of years away. People didn't discover earth until the time of columbus, now we have to wait for someone to discover the universe.

  • @skyliner288 How did we not discover "the earth" till columbus? I thought we always knew about the earth.

  • @fourtrees44 the person who first discovered that the world was round was probably some Persian or Babylonian astrologer 3, 000 years ago. Columbus also discovered America in 1492.

  • @skyliner288 The problem with your original quote was that you said "people didn't discover earth until the time of colombus". Yes you are right that the spherical shape of the earth was discovered in ancient times. Columbus was one of many people who discovered the Americas. He wasn't the first though. :-)

  • @fourtrees44 well it wouldnt suprise me the Idiocy of humans is unbounded , and we only get a few smart ones like sagan to come along and encourage us to pull our minds from the dregs of ignorance

  • @MrMalavon and this is in like 1.5 billion years that it will happen, right? How far will we be away from our galaxy by then, if ever... I guarantee if the human race keeps generating positivity and thought we can survive one of these collisions

  • @StOnion Apparently, nothing actually collies when two galaxies collide, on average, due to the vast spaces in between, like an atom. So surviving this wouldnt really be the hard part, surviving the red giant our sun will become will be, due to having to find a new home.

  • @JayDee98765 Yes the likely hood of an actual collision with another star would be very remote. However, gravity will throw our solar system around a bit and we'd either get flung into dark space or start heading towards the super massive black hole war in the centre of the 2 galaxies.

  • @BlackRaptor31 All in all, its just not a good scenario for us lol

  • @MrMalavon empty of planets? NO

  • @MrMalavon acutally the andramada glaxay has 3 times more stars then milky way

  • @MrMalavon

    Gravitational forces is what matters.

When the Andromeda galaxy does collide with the Milky Way. It will disrupt all of the orbital patterns of the stars. It will fling stars, planets, comets, left, right and centre. But as you said, there is likely to be no collisions, other than through comets.

  • @MrMalavon That will probably screw up out entire solar system though, given that the sun will be sent flying through space.

  • @MrMalavon Our star system is located closer to the core of the Milky Way. That means that, during the galaxy collision, the Sun will likely find its place somewhere in the emptiness of space, with Earth sent shooting into the far reaches of space.

  • @MrMalavon who cares? By the time they collide (if they do) the Earth would of probably been destroyed due to lack of using technology, major world wars, or major natural disasters. There are many possibilities of Earth being destroyed when Andromeda Galaxy collides with us. The Sun would of already become a Red Giant, we'd all be boiling.

  • @MrMalavon yes, galaxies are so big a planet or star collision would be very rare

  • @MrMalavon Prove it

  • Comment removed

  • Galaxies were formed with initial expansion speed, but if two galaxies form to close they will attract each other. And then its simply snowball effect - the bigger the group (say Virgo cluster) the stronger it will attract everything around (Local Group) and distort initial trajectory.
