  • I like Ridgeway clocks, but they have the LOUDEST strike.

  • Hey I love this clock on all three chimes! Nice clock! Is this clock at your house?

  • god i wish i had the money to buy a grandfather clock lke that.

  • it changed its chime how come?

  • masonic lodge grandfather clock westminster chimes

  • Does it chime every 15 minutes?

  • @skeegan97 Yes it does.

  • Well, I can't the Westminster Chime very good.

  • It's hard for me to hear.

  • Beautiful!

  • I have a clock exactly like this one. I think I broke it because it stops every three days and only the middle weight drops.

  • How much do these beautiful clocks cost?

  • I don't know the value of this clock. But they run anywhere from $1,000 on up to 3 or $4,000 new I believe.

  • Yes, Westminster is also my favorite chime. I have family with a dutch clock, its called an Amsterdammer that has this chime. It sounds simular to this one.

  • skarie

  • actually,it is a viking series # 111-113. It has westminster that is standard quarter chiming.

  • It's probably an Urgos movement, very nice clock, I have an Urgos Grandfather clock - check it out on my videos

  • The video "Rigdeway grandfather Clock built in 1981"

Shows The Grandfather Clock Playing Whittington chimes. My Grandparents Have, I think it's a rigdeway

Grandfather clock That Came in a kit. It works pretty good. It has Westminster Chimes on it.

  • FYI, A second clip is up of a different chime. At the end, it shows the clock close up from top to bottom. It's under "Ridgeway Grandfather Clock built in 1981" under my DogLover2113 account. Anyone know what the chime is called on the new clip??

  • Guess what! The clock is fixed! A guy came out here today and fixed it. He said it was very dusty and it needed to be oiled. He had it all apart. It seems to be working great. I have to get some clips of the different chimes and when I do, I'll post them.

Westminster chime huh, thanks for the info! That's my favorite chime. I think its because my parents had a chime clock that played that same tune when I was a kid.

  • I have called in a horologist and he's to come out soon to fix it. (found one in my town!) I will let you know what was wrong when I find out. When it's up and running again, I'll have to post a new clip of it chiming as well. Maybe a clip of each of the different chimes you can choose from. I think there are 3 or 4 but my favorite chime is the one in this clip.

  • Alright, sounds great.

If you didn't already know that melody is the Westminster chime...and it's the most popular clock chime by far.

  • yeah, mr.clock will have to have some good cleaning and/or oiling. that's what causes it to stop every once in a While. (bagpiper has a correct point.)

  • ....if your a horologist, then the first thing you'd think if someone told you their grandfather clock is not working, is to check the pendulum's verge, its probably off balance. This happens. (and no, I'm not being smart, just offering my advice from one horologist, to another, lol)

  • Probably best to look in the yellow pages or even maybe you can do a google search. Most of them work for themselves or in a clock shop, so if you have a clock shop in your town then more than likely there are one or two that work there.

  • Cool, thank you!

  • are the weights all the way down? b/c I repair clocks

and if either one of the hands are touching something they shouldn't be, then that will stop the clock.

p.s. i really am fascinated by clocks. they r kewl.

  • The weights seem to be fine. Not touching or hung up on anything. If we get it started and push the pendulum, it will run for an hour or two, but than stop. Any ideas on that one? Dirty clock??

  • More than likely. Probably do need to have it cleaned and oiled. Also it wouldn't hurt to put new bushings in the parts that are extremely worn.

My grandfather is a horologist, and I'm learning the trade...so I'll do my best to offer insights as to what could be wrong.

  • Do you know how I would go about finding a horologist in my area? Thanks for telling me what the official term for the field of clocks was. I didn't know that.

  • Why thank you! Mr Clock has Unfortunately stopped working just recently. It's time to get someone out here to fix it. It most likely needs to be cleaned. It's an old clock.

  • whats the freakene point

  • It's a COOL clock :)

  • Yes it is. I'm a clock lover and it's amazing!!
