hey lil help?im about to buy a dell xps laptop that has 256MB NVIDIA 8600M GT just like yours and it has 2.2 GHz will it work even if its on meduim-low settings?
Good question, I know you will easily be able to get a good one for that price I just don't know what to recomend, only reason mine was so expensive is because it's a Vaio (pretty much just paying for the make lol) The spec is pretty decent too.
Have a look around on Google I'm sure you'lll find one you'll like :)
Yeah this runs smooth with all settings on maximum... Hmmm I can't understand why yours would be struggling, I wouldn't of thought it's because of the 2.8ghz pro, is your graphics card a 512mb like mine or a 256mb...? Have you updated the drivers for your graphics card?
The drivers are pretty well updated, they are one behind right now, and I am updating as I type this on my other pc.
The 8600gts should not be the bottleneck. It is supposed to be quicker than the 8600gt which should be quicker than the 8600m gt.
hmmm I think it must be the cpu, because lower resolutions only help the maximum fps not the minimum. it still drops to around 19fps even on low settings.
Hmmm I dont know if it is the cpu, there is a known bug with this game where sometime running it with dual core can cause a slight "freeze" crash here and there so when I play this i disable one of the cpu's so really I'm only using one 2.5ghz proccesor on this game and it all runs over 60 fps.
I think for my next desktop im gonna get 2 x GTX280's there supposed to be awsome, only downside is they cost about the same as a PS3 (and that's just for one)
Hmmm... Well I'm running it with 4GB ram, I've checked back of the box for you nd it says the following for ther minimum specification - If you have XP, 1GB is the minimum, if you have Vista, 2GB is the minimum.
If you have XP even though it's not meeting minimum as long as everything else is meeting minimum it MAY run it,
You've got me on that one, I'm afraid I've only ever gone with Nvidia so I really wouldn't be able to help you there, sorry.
The graphics settings in this game looks very flexable, it looks like a lot of graphics cards would be able to run it, just have to tamper around with graphics/resolution.
Yeah the Source engine is great, it's looking real sweet althought I can't think of much more they could add/update on it now... I think it looks great.
Cost about £1500 though, really pricy but I love Vaios, it looks real nice, perfomance is great and overall it's great for playing games and making music (The 2 main reasons I got it)
Hey i looked at the back of the left4dead games case, and read what it requires. I seem to not have enough, can u double check to make sure? ( I'm great with cpu's but i can sometimes require another phisition of the same quality to check)
I don't think so, my friends older computer with a 2.4 GHZ P4 processor and 1 GB of ram couldn't play the game, then again it could be due to his weak GPU since he was using the FX series. =p
I think it might be a big struggle to be honest... Have you tried running Half-Life 2 on your laptop because that is the same engine as used in Left 4 Dead.. If that is playable then you might be able to get this running but everything would probably have to be on low (graphcis, resolution etc)
hey dude im gettin a diff laptop now lol its cheaper... plz can you give your opinion on how well it will play stuff like left 4 dead and bioshock and far cry 2 stuff, thx:
Processor - Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 2.5 GHz Dual-Core
RAM - 4 GB (installed) 4 GB (max) - DDR2 SDRAM
Hard Drive - 320 GB
Operating System - Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate
Sounds good, very similar spec to mine, I'm not sure how good a 9500m GS graphics card is, the 512mb bit sounds promising though :)
Type "8600m GT 512 vs 9500m gs 512" in google (or something similar to that) you should find the difference between my graphics card and that one, If it's same spec as mine (or better) it will run these games fine...
FarCry 2 runs well on this too... I might upload a Video test of that on here soon.
Yeah should run really well... iv not heard of the graphics card 9650 but 1024mb is fantastic! Sounds like a good laptop. My laptop runs other game like Bioshock and Fallout 3 full spec too, so your laptop should do the same :) Upload some vids when you get it.
can anyone tel me if itll accept highest like settings i have no idea with the pc stuff,

hi equation, i have a question, how will this run with my pc:
Intel core 2 duo 2.8 ghz
1 gb of ram
512 mb of video
flosh913 2 years ago
Sorry if this is kind of late.
No it will most likely not run on your computer. I believe you have to at least have 2 GB's of ram.
The video card and core probably could play the game on about medium but the ram is what is dragging you down.

is it not lag play on laptop?
keybladerz75 2 years ago
All depends on the spec of your laptop, runs nice and smooth on mine :)

Yep, Won't run everything maxed out I don't think but will easily run all on medium I would of thought :)

This one cost about £1500, I bought it about 7 or 8 months ago so it would be cheaper now.
Type in AR71zu in google to get a price :)

So with out fraps you run perfectly smooth?
I am trying to figure out why my pc is craping out on this game.
It has an 8600gts 2 gigs of ram, and what I suspect to be the problem an old Pentium D 820 @2.8ghz
Whenever there are more than a few people/zombies around my fps drops drastically. Even at low settings
Iwillkillyou35 2 years ago

Equation84 2 years ago
your CPU is fine for this game, if I'm not mistaken it uses to old source engine
Rune101rune 2 years ago
Well you are correct that it is the source engine, but it is an updated version.
My fps also drops a ton when I turn my flashlight on. I am pretty sure it is my cpu killing my fps
Iwillkillyou35 2 years ago
don't see why your fps drops when you turn your flashlight on. I don't notice a difference on my 9800 GX2
Rune101rune 2 years ago
What kind of comment is that? haha
What I am saying is that it is a CPU bottleneck, having nothing to do with my very capable 8600gts.
I know that you want to tell us all about your 9800gx2 though so please do.
Are you folding on it?
How does it play all of your favorite games?
when did you get it?
Do tell, I know you are dying to tell us all!!!!
Iwillkillyou35 2 years ago
Calm down damn I'm not trying to brag or anything I was trying to help you but apparently you know everything, have a good day/night
Rune101rune 2 years ago
Haha chill man im just playing with ya.
To tell you that truth I wish I had a 9800gx2
(Duh... there freaking sweet)
Those things bring in an amazing amount of points for F@H
Actually now I do want to know.
Do you fold on it? And if so how many ppd are you bringing in?
Iwillkillyou35 2 years ago
I don't use Folding @ Home, might download it just to see how it performs
Rune101rune 2 years ago
You can just look up how well it performs. Why not use it? The project could really use the help.
Iwillkillyou35 2 years ago

Equation84 2 years ago
Go with a single gtx295. that way you can sli them later. It should give your more flexibility for the future.
Iwillkillyou35 2 years ago
just a question can i run the game with 512 ram ? and no worries about the other thing they seems to be fine
takeitonemoretime123 3 years ago

I'd look into it a bit first though.

Equation84 3 years ago
Yeah, they should just make a Source 2 engine, I like how the game looks good without being super hoggish
firestormcomputers 3 years ago
you can play 1280x800 or 800x480 for widescreen
druidkg 3 years ago
Yeah I know, I prefer it this res though... I'm not to fond of how widescreen scales it.

I have Intel P4 3Ghz
Ati Radeon 9600xt
2 gb of Ram.

Equation84 3 years ago
you're playing at a non-widescreen resolution? isn't that laptop widescreen?
1RandomViewer 3 years ago
Yeah it's widescreen, I don't like it on widescreen resolution though, it loks too "stretched" in my opinion... Each to there own I suppose lol

ur laptop must run all games really well, how much was it and where did u get it, i really want a laptop good for gaming
Magnetmovies 3 years ago

Darcan145 3 years ago
Your cpu and ram is a little less than mine but your graphics card is the next one up from mine so it should easily run everything maximum too :)

It's a great game too you'll love it... I'm addicted to it at the moment! (And it looks real nice with everything maxed)
