  • I got sprayed in the face eyes and mouth by one of these guys...it was here in texas we call these leaf bugs...but the stick bugs im all too familiar with...dont fuck with them! Its horrible taste and feeling.

  • @MrTex1987 You sure? I don't recall hearing about any stick insects that spray, unless it's the Black Beauty/Velvet which live in Peru. It probably wasn't a stick insect.

  • @TheInsectMania Yeah Im sure. It might not be this exact secies, but its a cousin for sure. There is a little twist to the story though...I was actually oking 2 of them and they were mating...I was young 12 or 13, but to say the least, the taste and burn was unforgetable. Very metallic in flavor, it was kinda like getting hit in the face with an aluminum bat

I think Texas is alot like Australia in that its more dangerous in creatures and flora than your tyical civilized establishment.

  • they make me cringe!!!!

  • if it cant get over the 1-3 inch wall than its not smart at all :3

  • @Foosly I'm pretty sure it's a spiny leaf

  • the mantis is only mimicking the movement of the wind, they live around vegetation .

  • Thats 100% NOT a mantis, manis it's not even close related to the phasmid family... (stick insect) thats on the video it's a extatosoma tiaratum female

  • mantis*

  • looks like what someone would make in spore

  • 1:40

Looks like its trying to take cover from an earthquake in slow motion..

  • GOD THATS BIG :o

  • This is an Extatosoma tiaratum, AKA the Spiny Leaf-Insect, If you're wondering what it is eating at the start it appears to have just shed it's skin and is now eating the shed skin, It's full of proteiny goodness! They are top pets.. although not cuddly.. but you definitely become attached to them.. they become Very cute to someone who keeps them.. I think they are adorable

  • why are you aruganing over a bug? pfft.

  • Is it in it's final instar, as, though it looks very similar, it doesn't look like an adult?

  • @Zenadorr nooooooooooooooooooo!they scare the beieber jeeberz outta meh!

  • come on baby! dance!

  • They dont mate, they lay eggs ready fetilised. It will eat its skin because it thinks its anotehr insect, don't elt it do that or it can get ill. lol

  • @Mazzy95 Incorrect. Stick insects can mate, but most species can produce eggs without mating. They "Clone" themselves. They eat their skin for extra nutrients. These guys are in no way cannibalistic or insectivorous.

  • Is it dancing? xD

  • naww :P it rocking back and forth as if it were an acutual stick :O

  • i believe it is mating season.

  • Thats a Macleays Spectre Stick Insect, so its either a pet, or this was recorded in Australia

  • I don't want to live anymore. Not after seeing that thing.

  • his feeling da muuusiiiic! *sings*

  • when stick insects are disturbed they do tree things: pretend to be dead or try to scare you with red things under theyre legs or wave side to side like this one is doing

  • i think the dancing is a natural adaptation for stick bugs, they move back and forth like a limb in the breeze, i believe that is why it is doing it, i could be wrong though

  • that's exactly why they do it. i think mantis do it sometimes too.

  • the reason it is doing it is because it is disturbed

  • why is it danceing?? DX it looks freakiy

imma only loeking fora schoel progesct DX

    aaaaaahhh freaky/ ']

  • if your stick insects grow wings theyre males if there that species my males used to fly a bit across my room

  • es verdad no es una mantis me confundi porque hay una que es igual a este bicho.

che y entonces que carajo es

  • Notice the tail looks like a face with horns? Good for distracting/intimidating predators...

  • no te puedo creer lo que encontarstes este insecto es una mantis pero es casi imposible de encontrarla esta en bosques muy densos son peligrosas y fuertes

  • Não é um Mantis! É um bicho-folha.

  • why is it dancing? i dont hear any music.

  • damn i love nature

  • is the insect drunk or high on drug? can't barely walk...

  • it sways because in nature, the swaying is to mimmick the movement of other branches caught in a breeze so that it isn't zeroed out as an insect.

  • oh... I see.. thanks for the info.
