I wish more of us would complain to the city we pay a lot of taxes to the city where is all that money they use it to fix up down town la and the ghetto thats a waste of money they ruin it the same year
Tujungas not ghetto at all ive been living here for years and its changed a lot there use to be gangs and drug addicts all over but i dont see any gangs or tagging and hardly and crack heads the towns changing for the better but LA CITY wont put any money into tujunga were like LAs step child or something the roads and cracked and half the city doesnt have sidewalks where is all out money going
Nice Pics of Home, I grew up there, went to Pinewood Elem,Mt Gleason moved In high school. Tujunga isen't all that bad, the whole Sunland/Tujunga/LaCrescenta area has a small town mentality. Tujunga certainly is not heaven, Houses are not that cheap up there and you are stuck with LAUSD schools.
I'm glad Home depot dident come to Tujunga, Go to Glendale or Burbank and let them keep the traffic.
That would be awesome if it really looked like those glam pics ! I have lived in the area most of my 55 years and it has changed so much in the wrong direction . Even though it was not the greatest to begin with ! It is now infested with nuts , homeless , illegals , junkies ! No descent shopping or eats , The police deserve a pay increase dealing with the crime there ! Make sure to lock your car , home , garage and be home by 6pm and you will be OK ! Oh ! And the 4th July parade is a joke !
Can't say anything bad about Tujunga. I grew up there and have great memories of my childhood and still miss it now I live in San Diego. Does Pinewood Elementary still exists?
You guys are killing your town... Its already half dead with drunks, intentionally homeless bums, bikers, and say nothing of the crummy streets and backwoodsy hick mentality. Whenever anything comes in that will help it thrive, you say.. NO We dont want THAT in our town. If you kill the money makers... what have you got. A crummy little run down town. Id rather live in Compton where there are stores to shop at without going broke -competition which keeps prices down.
I remember the old K-Mart. The parking lot always seemed to have broken down, abandonned cars & camper shells, washing machines, etc. It seemed as though people thought it was a dump site. I remember sneaking into the Rainbow theater on Foothill when I was 15 to see Saturday Night Fever in 1977... and a lot of other movies for that matter. I didn't really consider it sneaking in because the back doors were always unlocked so you could pretty much just walk right in. Ah, the memories...
I also remember where I watched Sat Night Fever in a little town England! The old Sunland K-Mart was not so run down in recent years. It wasn't closed because it wasn't doing well - it was part of a package of 27 properties sold to Home Depot.
If by wetlands you mean the Tujunga Wash area it was bad for a time but has been cleaned up a few times. We try to keep it cleared so people can enjoy a walk in there.
Thought about moving to Sunland/Tujunga when the real estate market started to crash, but the more I went there the more I knew I couldn't live there. The area is lacking in businesses, it's too ghetto looking( streets dont have curbs) and it's just not improving at the pace that it should. They should make a tunnel through the Verdugo mountains to Glendale/Burbank so it will be easier to access.
Used to live there..... Verdugo high school, long foothill blvd. Sundown bar. Trashy old motel. Yep i really miss, by the way I love the picture of foothill blvd looking up at the mountains, i can see cherries diner in that shot. Great video!
sunland and tujunga r the best towns in california sunland is the only place i will ever call even thow im not allowed anywhere in la county:( 1977-1998
Hi all...I also wondered about the vulture seen towards beginningof video.....probally a simple turkey vulture.....If you do have condors in your back yard your sitting on a gold mine....I grew up in the Seven Hills dr. area in Tujunga.....
The reason these photos of animals are applicable to the proposed Home Depot is because these shots were taken at the Haines Outlet which is the flood control channel that runs along the back side of Home Depot. In other locations Home Depot has been caught dumping into such channels. If they do that here all of these animals would die or be otherwise adversely affected.
We thought it was a California condor but some "expert", after seeing the pic, said they are all marked and he could see any mark. It is a condor of some kind. I measured a stone in front of the bird to get the scale and the bird was over 4 feet long giving it probably a 7 feet wing spam. This pic was taken from my back garden next to the Tujunga Wash in LA.
