Funny story about random-encounters with Ghost Navis, a long time ago when I had a friend over (who was also a huge Battle Network fan), I was playing BN3 and running all over ACDC's net trying to run into FlashMan, when I said to my friend "He's probably too much of a coward to fight!"
Epic jinx! Not even a second later, the screen goes white and enters battle mode, against FlashMan! We were laughing our asses off the whole fight! "Oh, s*** he heard me!!!!"
I have just one small complaint about this series. When you're putting a new chip in the folder or talking to someone, could you slow down a bit so we can see what is being said or what the chip does and how much damage it does?
With everything Lan can jack into, he could easily take control of the world. I mean, he can jack in to cars for a joy ride. Enter into high program computers and do things like all A plus for him in scool. Even in later games, collect virus for pets and cook. Sadly, Lan dosen't seem to realise this and Megaman won't tell him
@MasterofLaziness I was never able to completely beat Bass in any of the games. So thank you, for that insite on what happens in BN3.... Gotta love Bass :)
BTW, I subscribed. At least I'm not the ONLY one who actually enjoyed the Network series.
Also, I like your brittish accent. You sound like a reporter sometimes. You could play with it more often- Sarcastically of course. You know how americans think brit accents are weird, right?
Not true about Fireman only becoming a random encounter after you've jacked out and then jacked in again. I was happily minding my own business when he appearead again.
Looks like Lan gave new meaning to the term carjacking! *rimshot*
I do have a question, though. At one point you picked up a HiCannon. Why didn't you put it in your deck? Is the chance of a Zeta-Cannon worth keeping the regular cannons over it?
Indeed, I'm keeping the normal Cannons for now for the chance of Zeta-Cannon. Once I have more HiCannons and thus have a chance of Zeta-Cannon 2, out they go ;)
Indeed, when battle first starts, your chip selection is a random group of five from your folder. In later games, there were methods to make at least one chip ALWAYS appear on the first turn. In 6, you could even use a method to make sure 2 chips would show up right from the start.
I actually like it, adds another layer of strategic depth to the game in the form of proper folder building. You can just jam in whatever high-powered chip you find (like you can in the Star Force games... which was by far their weakest point IMHO), but you will only be able to use one or two chips per turn most of the time, due to conflicting chip codes and whatnot.
By having a properly built folder, chip selection is much smoother, and your damage output will therefor also be higher.
Ah. lol I'm the type who has to play a game to understand it. Vicarious gaming like this doesn't work for me, though I understand what you say. I'll warm up to and maybe even appreciate the game more as Dragon's series progresses.
In my opinion, I hated 5. Liberations could get so annoying sometimes, and the Soul System didnt make it better. Now 6....OH YES 6. I love me some BN6. 4 isnt too far behind 5, considering I hated Duo... 3 is good, 2 never played and 1 never played.
I did like 6, but... eh. Most of the characters in that one fell kind of flat to me. Basically all of Lan's new friends in the new city had.... well.... nothing unique about them other than their looks. No particularly unique Navis, Tab was a very poor substitute for Higsby, who wasn't even in the game... Had the character design been stronger, I would probably have liked 6 more, which isn't to say I don't like it.
I think after the next boss comes my least favorite boss. Though it's hard to remember the exact order of the bosses, being so long since I played.
Funny story: In one of the battle network games, I think maybe three, I went to fight a ghost navi, beat him, and then immediately ran into him again in a random battle.

@beedolphin1 Apparently you forgot what Lan says after you beat BassGS in BN3. "Now that we are the best in the net,
Let's take it over!"
Even though he basically goes "lol jk" after.

So you're gonna see Skullman soon?
Kidding, he's stuck inside of his PET in this game.
Also, this is the only game at mentions the returns of the bosses.
