@dertylox45 In the Japanese version Zoltar (or Berg Katse) was a mutant created from a pair of boy/girl twins and whose gender could switch between male and female. In BOTP his gender was male with his female form becoming his sister Mala. But that left the problem of when he is nearly unmasked in the Bigfoot episode and, if they had translated it into BOTP, #102 where he is fully unmasked - because he looks like Rapunzel with that long hair!

I got the damn 'tame' yank version with Casey Kasem doing the voiceovers when I was a kid though. (yes, the Scooby Doo 'Shaggy'/American Top 40 guy) Still fuckin rocked my Saturday mornings all the same. That and 'The Red Hand Gang'. hahaha...

If you're 100% serious. This means that Battle of the Planets is an American adaptation of Gatchaman. They changed certain things but otherwise identical formula wise from the Japanese version.

all episodes are the same in gatchamna, battle, G-force, but dialog/storyline may be different, but characters names are differnt 4 sho

Ken, the leader, Gatchaman: Mark in Battle, Ace in G-force,

Joe,2nd command, Gatchman, jason battle, Dirk G-force ,

i can go on, but just look it up... also there was "EASY RIDERS" same characters, diff names, new episodes "sequels", kinda lame, not the same as original GATCHaMAN.. The music was always my fav, gets u pumped up!!

It was called Eagle Riders in the nineties (not the Dennis Hopper title) from the Gatchaman 2 series. Only Joe's name remained the same.

im thinking mark, jason, tiny, keyop, and princess were the translated into english versions. i cant believe i never knew this myself as this is my all time favorite show ever. i grew up on this and learned to read just to understand the episode titles.

this plus robotech (macross) opened my eyes to reality based cartoons, well in at least as such the heros/villians could die.

To be fair we've had a few really good american cartoons they're just been few and far betwee. Batman the animated series, the Avatar, the orginal X-men, etc... But truth be told it's animated comedies that we excel at, probobly because it's a "easier" sell to american audiences.
