Yep....the old Sea Gull Inn in Essex, Md.. Played there many times myself. Kix...a great rock n' roll band. Got signed by Atlantic....in itself a huge accomplishment. Too bad their success was minimal. Much better band than the Harrisburg, P.A band that took a lot of Kix's act to L.A. and made it huge.....Poison.
I played with a band called Arsen and we opened for Kix at Shiley Acres. You ain't shitting about it being a party! Both times there were about 5,000 people there! These guys were unmatched for energy and showmanship. Loud as shit too! Whiteman was and still is Awesome!!!!
I'm from Baltimore...and I've seen them probably 15 times. I caught them in San Diego last night (yes they played San Diego...May 8th, 2009!) and they were AMAZING!!!!
funny story, back in the early 80's, i had no clue who the members of Kix were or looked like. I had heard their music though, and they were cool. So, i am in a guitar shop, not many around as it was after 8 PM and I was pretty much the only one looking at axes. @ guys from the band Kix walked up, and totally mocked me. I asked if they were in a band, and they replied "Yeah, Christian Rock, You never heard of us before" I thought they were smart ass dicks, but they could rock!
