Bob had a vested interest in covering her up. He was knocking the bottom out that for several years before switching over to yet another showcase girl. People forget that the sweet little old gray-haired man that encouraged us to spay our pets was his generation's Charlie Sheen (minus the "attacking hookers in hotel rooms while coked-up" thing of course)
I hated that the shows from 1980-1996 had the credits on the crawl screen. If I was them, I would've pulled a "Family Feud" 1982-1985 and had the credits chyroned. My ideal font: the one seen on "Late Night with David Letterman" from around this time.
So bring your good times and your laughter too. We're going to celebrate a party with you come on now... 1:18 and right on down the golden road of this moment. Great clip.
@tyrese3745 not quite. You were required to be "retired" as a champion, but you kept what you won that day. PYL and Pyramid had $25K+ winners all the time, including Michael Larson. TPIR did not have champions, so that's a moot point for that show.
Bob was a great looker back then. He still is today. Not in a gay sort of way. Gonna always miss him. I only see the new Price is rights on Youtube not on Tv. Bob was the best and they coulda got someone better like Jaleel White or someone with more class.
The girl in the silver dress..oops. What an awesome show this was, I grew up on this show, ahh the days of sitting home watching people bid for prizes and play plink-o. :)
What a rare clip! Before the "spayed and neutered speech!" When did that start anyway? I remember the first time I heard it but cannot remember when it was.
Yes, I still do think Yolanda was the only one to lose her top on this show. Got a problem with that? :-P J/K. These occurances aren't as rare on TV these days as they once were, if it were to happen now, it would be considered ordinary. :-)
The contestant should "Celebrate"! I really wish that i could remove that comment about dian, (which i regret posting). The dresses are beautiful. I think TPIR no longer required Miss Ashlee's services after this episode! Holly will make you forget that pugly yolanda!
I wish the person who posted this had shown us the enitre showcase she won...I actually remembered this episode from when I was 8 years old, and would have enjoy seeing her showcased described by Johnny. All 3 party dresses were part of her showacse also. Any chance of posting the enitre showcase?
Uhm... "'Boat' can refer to one of the large cars manufactured in America from the 1950s through the 1970s." <- My trusty friend Wiki put into words better than I could have. :)
haha. If I had known the comment was that lame, I never would've replied to it. Oh, and your "trusted friend" is never a valid site for academic papers, keep that in mind! lol

I guessing that winner had to donate $2,456 towards charity because the limit of any CBS game show before late 1984 was $25,000.

The woman in silver IS Dian. Janice is in the red, Holly in black.

why were they playing "celebrate" as the ending anyway?
gibby100 4 years ago
As WilLWatchAnything mentioned in any early post, "Celebrate" was one of the songs on the jukebox offered in her showcase.
mitmfan 4 years ago
a jukebox was one of the prizes the contestant won. And also, she was on of the biggest winners of the time, reason to "celebrate".

@WillWatchAnything I guess 1983, because there was a clip of a closing TPIR episode that had Bob saying his closing speech.
tyrese3745 1 year ago
@pspguy28 he started doing that after his wife died, who was a huge animal activist. It was in respect for her, and her work.
