  • dam i wanna play but i dont kno any1 dat would play daaaam lol

  • Man I wish I could be dm like that

  • i love it!

  • I played this with friends, but we never used any material expect character sheet with life, armor and stuff. it was pretty nice to imagine stuff as a young one. I still remember the game as if it was a computer game, even though it was all in my head :DD

  • Ach I find it exasperating when so many people choose to play conventional characters. My own particular favorite is my chaotic neutral werewolf assassin, who is as likely to like you as kill you, and who is building an army with his infectious bite to form a werewolf exclusive communist dictatorship XD

  • Upon entering the room, our noble group of adventurers, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, fall under the candle-lit shadow of a great beast unlike anything they have ever seen, with even it's roar shaking the graph paper beneath it's feet -- the great silver Kennedy!

An unusually large and mighty beast, Kennedy backs our two trembling heroes into a dark unforgiving corner, speechless.

But luckily, there is ONE they fear... Susan B. Anthony -- hendecagon!

  • Should the spellcaster have had a line of site through Bergash, both the other PC and the Evil Mage? for their spells.. what is the thinking on this in 4E? from where they were positioned at times. Also do you rule that PCS must be in adjacent square to strike with a standard weapon directly adjacent witha long sword for example?

  • Yo that music is from baldurs gate dark alliance 2, love that game

  • Awesome video. It was interesting watching the game unfold step by step. It really took me back to the good old days.

  • Nice job ditching Burgash, mage.

  • Also i'm going through the World's Largest Dungeon

  • I love Being DM but ithink thiis guy could be a funn party member I have series going on now with my friends where we do commentaries on our past games and do new ones every now and then.

  • verry cool!

  • *sigh* I wish I had someone to play this with. But I'm 12 so everyone I know jus plays CoD all day and thinks everything that isnt a shooter is a price of crap. Still fun to watch these though.

  • @MrYoshi411 Funny Cause i was thirteen when i started playing

  • 0:46 personally, I wouldn't tell the players what to make of the evidence in front of them - I just provide the evidence and try to make it as obvious as possible - it's more fun (for all of us) if they have to guess, even if it's obvious.

in other words, I'd have just told them the torches were lit, and possibly added one or two other evidence - it's then up to them to talk it over and go "hey wait a minute! why are the torches lit? somebody's been here recently!"

  • Not the best video esper ever made but its still very cool!

  • how do u do this with one player for vids like this? Can u please make a how to video on this! =)

  • I always found the battles in D&D unnecessarily complicated. I have run combat like this: str + weapon = hit power, con + armor = defense power, wis + spell = magic power, dex + weapon = ranged power. Attacker rolls attack dice, defender rolls defense dice, if attack is more than defense, difference is damage total. Dodges or parrys, or whatever have their own quick rules. Quick simple and only a few dice rolls. my players have never complained and I have never had balance issues.

  • @pottermorestarkid haha i am so evil

  • @Gisle aune there is an rpg for DnD its called DnD tactics

  • I feel like i'm in the mission!

  • omg.. that looks so fucking boring

  • @carlosz013 then GTFO COD PLAYER

  • @heatblade1212 fuck off you geek....LOL

  • @carlosz013, yes it does, I recommend watching 'The Gamers 2: Dorkness Rising' to get a better impression of the game.

  • This sounds like one of those books that you have a choice to turn to this page or to this page,it seems pretty badass

  • This sounds like one of those books that you have a choice to turn to this page or to this page,it seems pretty badass

  • What i think is cool about DnD is not the combat, but just all the cool stuff you can do, make a character with detail, use tons of different skills, and create your own encounters. I would pick up DnD, but i don't know anyone who plays it :(

  • @TheGeneralBurn Same here. I think it's a pretty nice social game.

  • If you ever consider the possibility of programming or designing an RPG, you should try D&D. While being fun, it gives a peek into the low-level mechanics of today's more tactical RPGs like Dragon Age: Orgins and literally Neverwinter's Nights 2.

And a good DM can create some interesting things and handle quite interesting deviations like healing a fallen NPC combatant and use Charm Person to milk the character for information.

  • If only video game RPGs focused on choice over flashy combat, and were given 5 years of intensive development, but EA is only into (failed) sellouts (see: DA2)

  • @GisleAune I would love to see a well-made modern RPG with tactical, turn-based combat. I rather enjoyed DA2. Bioware's ability to write dialogue and bring interesting characters to life is utterly amazing.

  • @repsesper You sure you didn't mistaken it with some other game?

  • @GisleAune

Skyrim will have what you want.

  • @Agumon5, Indeed it has. Spent 20 hours on it already and it gives me a fair challenge -- i.e. I'm fighting equals, not hordes of fools á la Dragon Age 2. I especially like the process of building the character by experience, not pages of difficult choices.

  • @GisleAune the last of us is going to probably be a rpg and naughty dog was working on it for 5 years since 2009 and it will probably be released in 2013

  • Wants to try this

  • Wow.. I hear the baulders Gate, + DND = Epic.. :P

  • Do you need figurines to play this? or can you just make a mark on the paper where you are standing?

  • @trumpetboy357 You can just mark on graph paper or use other creative means (tokens, glass beads, etc.)

  • @trumpetboy357 The only version I've ever played was the origional one that came with flat plastic character pieces, & miscelaneous props like chests, & spike pits. coins work as well.

  • @trumpetboy357 lol i play with infantry peices from risk :D

  • @trumpetboy357 i'm gong to use monopoly pieces. :P

  • @trumpetboy357 no you dont have to you can mark the paper you can play with your household items without spending any money at stores

  • Baldars Gate: Dark alliance music??

  • Not trying to be rude or trying to do anything but, I f you could make a part 3 to this That would be awsome. Maybe like put a lich somewhere infront of a chest that holds a good piece of treasure. TheVipers1band

  • I do not know one person who plays DnD in my area.

I am very sad, because I'd like to play it, see what it's like for myself. I really want to.

  • @RespectMyCountry try going to the wizards website and subsribing. They have a virtual table that's in beta (you need to send an application in for an invite), and i don't know when they'll come out, but it's a good way to play when you don't have anyone around.

  • Hi. Can someone give me an example of an attack roll and a damage roll? I'm learning how to play DnD 4th edition; I have the handbook but I'm not understanding it.

  • @PeterStrummel Check out my other videos, I have tutorials on such things. See "Character Basics" and "The Character Sheet" as a couple examples.

  • @repsesper wow thank you for fast response.

  • @PeterStrummel Well for the attack roll you always roll a D20( 20 sided dice) and then add your modifier if you have one and then the damage roll depends on your attack so if i were using a dagger i would roll 1D4( 4 sided dice) and then add your modifier if your proficient with it. just look at the stats for the attack or weapon and you should hopefully get it

  • @CrimsonWolf502 Correct

  • Just enquiring what is the 'best' version to start D&D? I get the idea behind the game because i used to play Warhammer Quest/40K which are similar games, i know they are not the same, D&D is impressivly more complex and difficult to master. :D Thanks

  • @Simwillb Both 3.5 and 4e are amazing games, and it largely comes down to personal opinion. I currently play 4e, it has more balance, and all races and classes are effective, with lots of options. 3.5 is better at simulating "reality".

  • im not trying to joke yall or nothing buy why dont you jus play the game i think i saw one on xbx live

  • @Igotacat55 Dungeons and Dragons Online? That game is nothing like the real thing.

  • I played D&D with some people today for the first time.

    I'M FUCKIN' ADDICTED ALREADY.

  • love your vids whats your Ac ?

  • Shouldn't you have had an attack of opportunity before the zombie grabbed burgash?

  • what level are they? the fortitude for farlye seemed aweful high.

  • Is D&D still fun I stopped playing it in 1999.

  • @SuperKijun FUck yeah, well 3.5 and pathfinder not that 4th edition kids shit

  • Edit: also nice Boulders gate music

  • nice oblivion music

  • i think i will play this game a little different like my own way with my own papers and stuff

  • Can characters move into squares that are slightly cut off by a wall?

  • is it possible to play this without role playing? I'm no actor >_>

  • @matcpn Yes there is repsesper has a video about dnd play styles

  • Exerpt from Character communication: "Hey Vergash!" "Yes Far-lye." "What happens if they attack us with their weapons? If they hit us wont we get hurt?" Vergash Smiles "Rest easy Far-lye, this is 4th edition. If we do get attacked, any injuries will go away due to a healing surge" Far-lye looks quizzical "what is this strange magic you talk of, this 'healing surge'?" Vergash laughs in delight. "It is a response to the whining of the new gods. They insisted that mortals should heal at will" "oh"
  • Neat

  • 2 person team that seems small, challenging too

  • lolz i love ur voices!

  • Balur's Gate 1 music!!!!!!!! :) Good times

  • I'm planning on starting to play dnd this summer. I wanted to play when I realized that it'd more fun to chose what I wanted to do instead of following crappy mmorpg rules.

  • @thegiantmike Its fantastic the game in its whole

  • @1998scout Yeah. I played a couple games. It was fun. A bear bitch slapped my character.

  • Awesome!!!!

  • Believe it or not, but I am actually paid to DM RPGs as a therapy tool. RPGs are very very underated. I know most pple think of them as geek stuff but they are used by many therapist like me (in many ways, yet I think I might be the only one using it as I do). Why? Because the ingame catharsis ( emotional impact on self) is real even if the content is imaginary. Also, every choices one makes, every moral dilemna, even gathering the will to just say ''no'' to someone, can become a cure...

  • @TrueAdam i want you as my therapist XD

  • @TrueAdam That's really cool! My dad is a psych and he has always thought that the characters my brother and I make reflect our true selves to an extent, and what we would like to become to some degree. I never thought of it as a therapy tool, but I bet it really helps some people.

  • I think my friends have shown me the game ive been waiting for all my life!

  • D&D is awesome.

  • what the fuck is this? xD

  • @tezpuzzlemazter id play with u i love the game i got the same exact problem.

  • I wish I could play Dungeons & Dragons, but no-one plays it.

At primary school I took in my first EVER box of D&D and everyone was like "Hey whats that" and I was like "The best board game EVER"

At secondry school there is this one other kid who plays D&D but no-one likes him except for me.

    Shows you the difference.

I WISH I COULD PLAY THIS GAME!!!

  • if you would like to find out if this game is for you, just download the basic books as torrents, use any action figures you have as models and just buy the right dice or use multiple normal ones.

if there's one thing i've learned is that you have to be creative with these kind of games.

  • hey thinking of getting dungeons and dragons is it expensive?

  • @dislodged123 yes its is quite. In overall basics (3 basic books PH1, MM1, and DM1, a set of 4 character minitures, set of dice, and a small set of monsters minitures) equals about $200. Not including add ons of campaign books, the 2nd and 3rd PH and MM books, more minitures to get, and 1 by 1 inch square poster paper, it is like very expensive, but doing it little by little, it becomes easier to get stuff.

  • where did you get the paper with the boxes(board)

  • @LEGOSHADOWSPARTAN I just picked it up at a local office supplies store.

  • @LEGOSHADOWSPARTAN

    DUDE AWESOME NAME!!!!

  • My friend and i just started playing D&D and I love it. Sometimes we might not play right though because we had no one to teach us lol

  • @Wombat0Rawr There is no right way to play, the Dungeon Master makes up some rules and the players decide if they are fair (well, thats what we do)

  • This map Idea is like... amazing and allows for like countless variations using the same pieces

  • @bio6789 I dont know...........i dont think so

  • @MegaVergan Possibly, i can go cheak

  • D and D is the best game i ever played!

  • Was this played by you alone or did you play this with some people begin the adventures or someone else then you acting DM?

  • got to ask what version then once we get past the version i see several mistakes in rules. unles your narating them wrong. and you need to work on your story telling.

  • Is this music from Dark Aliance baulders gate 1?

  • I wanna give this game a try but I wouldn't even know where to start....

  • how do you create your character and how do they level up?? you are really good with them!! i hope i can plat as well as you someday!!

  • lol love the dark alliance soundtrack. im beginning to explore this game, im 14 and im the only one at school who knows about this game.it seems really cool. but do you have to take turns fighting? or is that optional?

  • Is this a real gameplay or something you made up :)

  • Man this guy sounds like Raif Granger from The D6 Generation podcast.

  • i would never EVER play a game with you, you seem like you'd be the WORST DM in the history of the game, you litterally made this vid of you playing a rpg by your self you loser ha, BUT, it did give me some laughs so slap hands bro, slap hands :)

  • @CUSTERHEALTH I can't tell if this is an insult or a compliment.

  • Very cool video. I'm preparing for a new campaign using miniatures and gaming paper, so this is very helpful as well. Great work!

  • This was the greatest RPG game ever!!! (When Gygax owned it!) It took some doing to weed out the "game-lawyers," but, alas, they won out over the creative-thinking types and lawyered the game to death in III and IV.

I had most of the problems solved by ASKING EACH GROUP what they wanted to do to solve rules, and not relied on the G-D book.

My favorite levels were 1-6...you had to think! I miss those days.

Too bad. I still play Basic to 2nd Ed, but no players left from that era.

  • RPGplane for tablet rulez (this means I rule lol)

  • Oh and my weapon is a +2 greatsword with shock

  • I love to play D&D Me my dad and our friends got done playing the game saturday and we have a group of 39 people and were up against 7 Giant trolls with an armor class of 31 and there attacks are +20 +13 +7 and only 9 people in our group have 2 attacks the rest have one most everyone in our group is between 1 and 8th level so who thinks that my group will get destroyed

  • Thanks again for a great video and keeping the game alive. Where are you from? I'd love to sit in at your table. If you're not comfortable giving specifics, I understand :) I live in Colorado.

  • It's like a super slow game of D2

    :-(

  • Is it hard covering up all those areas with paper?

  • @worldtaker999 It is a little tricky, but I use the technique every once in awhile. Try it for yourself and see if it works for you (black construction paper works well).

  • @repsesper Ive got a laminated poster of 1 by 1 squares that i draw with a driegh erase marker

  • 3:50 Zombie Hulk!!

  • damn ive always wanted a set of dungeons and dragons but i have now idea where to get it. :/

  • @ancientgreeks12 you really dont need much, go on amazon and search dnd starter set red box

or go to a gamestore and buy one

  • My friend and i brought D and D to a meeting of our high school gamer club and have gotten about 5 more people hooked on D and D

  • I haven't played yet but I read the DM Guide and Player's Handbook for 4e and recently 3.5 (which I heard was better), going to try playing with my friends soon. We're just going to use really basic, crappy maps but I'm hoping it won't really matter.

  • great vid reminds me of the good ol rplaying days. the new pc games just dont get close to the imagination used in roleplaying games. luv pc but roleplaying is a dying art, YOUNG ONES take it up.

  • @1DeathWalkingTerror1 May the dream never die!

  • @repsesper I just got into DnD after studying video game design - so I came to it backwards! But god do I LOVE working in this toolset! It's like being freed up, able to do amazing things with level design, characters, story and overall mechanics that would take months or years to code... But can be implemented in just a few DAYS in 4th edition!

So far, I haven't had a single gaming session I've DMed that's gone less then 4 hours, some 6-7. This is awesome!

  • @1DeathWalkingTerror1 im 18 and love it. d20 Apocalypse lvl 2 rogue with a AC of 21. im trying to lvl into a Spider Rider prestige class

  • @1DeathWalkingTerror1 22 year old dm. playing with 23y.o, 18 y.o, 16 y.o, 22 y.o, and 17 y.o....We're doing our best to thwart the forces of evil!

  • @1DeathWalkingTerror1 Im 14 and I <3 playing D&D, we play 3.5!! D&D live on forever!!!

  • @1DeathWalkingTerror1 I got the new dnd set for christmas, play a new campaign every month! long live RPGS!

  • @1DeathWalkingTerror1 i love making rp's on paper :)

  • @1DeathWalkingTerror1 i play rpg's with a pad and paper evry day :D

i can't wait for the day when rpging will be a sport XP

  • @NeXusPredatorGaming nobody likes you

  • DO MORE OF THEESE THEY ARE AWESOM

  • I love the creepy music in the b.g. Nice touch.

  • He has an epic voice.

  • If you like D&D just play Neverwinter Nights 2 on the computer. It's easier/more fun and you only look half as nerdy.

  • at the start and the dagger is thrown at the big one how do you know that a 21 almost blocked it.

  • ooh nice the heddal stavkirke :D

  • great vid dude. I really dont see why people hate 4E so much. i just dont like the fact that they pigeonhole my fave class (fighter) so much. i used to play an agile bowman as a fighter. (which basically functioned like a 4E archer ranger, in retrospect).

  • It's from the Xbox game Dark Alliance. But there are tons of game and movie soundtracks that are similar and work great.

  • nice example of play. i was wondering if you could tell me what soundtrack you are using for the video. I'm looking for a soundtrack just like that to add to the experience with my group. If you could tell me, it would be greatly appreciated.

  • awesome D.M. XD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this would make an awesome audio book

  • okay so im new at DnD, im 13 years old and me and my best friend are going to start playing. I've made a dungeon out of the example dungeon in the Player's Handbook but I want to make a whole small town of hamlet. I need to know about iniative and checks, and how to figure out HP and AC... also do walls on huts have HPs?? some one please message me D: Thanks!!!

  • @Beatleluver1234567 Definitely watch my other vids. The Dungeon Master Guide has rules about objects.

  • @Beatleluver1234567 if you read the PHB (players handbook) and the DMG (Dungeon master guide) you will know all about how to play the game. i know it sounds like a lot of work but if you wanna learn then read them. i'm 13 and i've read them all. I play all the time.

  • I really like this video

So can i make a suggestion?

Can i ask for a live video?

Seeing the other players talk and interact would be helpfull

    Still this is freaking awsome!

  • @sabelomen I do really want to do that. Hopefully I will be to get someone to shoot such a video someday.

  • damn good job with the map.

  • would it be possible to get a picture or a pdf of your map? i really liked it.

  • hey man out of curiosity....at the 6 min. mark of the video when the cloaked man makes an attack against the knight even though it was a 17 it would have hit.....the knight is considered flat-footed do to the fact he is grappled by the zombie which then all attacks made against the knight would run off of his flat-footed ac and not his regular ac

  • @IIMeanDeanII Cover? Throwing into combat, maybe?

  • i cant help but laugh a little when people ACTUALLY try to rolepaly (speak like their in the 13 hundreds/change their voice)

  • @bud389 That's part of the game. It's a "role playing game."

  • @TheMomentKiller91 its more then possible to roleplay without talking in some weird, fake accent.

  • I'm impressed by the video, and thankful it was made. But I'm still curious about some things that aren't known. Frex: Was this a synopsis after the game? Was this a recap of the previous round, only recorded at the end of the round by just the one guy, and edited down later? Was there a need to have the game recorded, or was this just for fun?

Personally, I'd have found it more entertaining to see people playing than a recap, but still this is neat!

  • Crazy. A DM that can actually do voices and accents.

    Where are you guys hiding?

  • BTW as a DM how do you give names to people and places in the world. I find that i have a problem with that.

  • @marvelona Wizards.com has a random name generator for PCs and NPCs.

And maybe it's just me, but this guy sounds like a pretty bad DM. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if there were actual players, but this guy...eh.

  • @duffmasterofpuppets Hahaha

If you only knew what you were saying and who you were talking about, you'd feel mighty foolish...

  • @duffmasterofpuppets lol this guy is pretty good better then my dm

  • what soundtrack did you use for this vid? i like the dungeonesk sound to story.

  • I am a Dm for a litlle group of 4-5 players, but each time i try to make a combat encounter almost everybody gets bored, one of them dont even want to play anymore often!!!! :O , we have some trouble keeping track of initiative, XP and taking turns .. as a pro dm do you have any tips that could be of use? :S

  • @8Arachon8 How are you introducing your random encounters? Are you making it too hard/easy for your players?

  • @Claizen I make my encounters a few days before the gaming session, i also have a bunch of random encounters ready, in case of an emergency. i normally make encounters for five players but if one or more wont be able to be here at the gaming session, i normally deletes a bunch of the monsters. But i guess my encounters are fine i use the dm guide xp budget table and so on.... The biggest problem is keeping the encounter fun for other players when it aint there turn....

  • @8Arachon8 It sounds like you're not making it difficult enough for your players, or the encounters are more combat-oriented. Use a bit of imagination and make things situational. Such as introducing a cursed artifact into the party that can result in disaster during combat, or maybe describe the situations to make it appear more urgent and dangerous. Build a little suspense before entering in combat, and while in combat have certain conditions that makes the players roleplay instead of rolling.

  • @Claizen Thanks for the tips.. :D i'll try using them for my next adventure. :)

  • how do u spell the warrior guys name please?
