The UN security Council needed to give the major powers veto power at the time because otherwise they simply would never of signed up to such an international organisation.

When it comes to nuclear weapons, this is really simple. It is only illegal for a country to have nuclear weapons if they signed a treaty. ISRAEL, Pakistan and India never signed it unlike the rest of the world
They can choose to withdraw from the treaty if they like. If they do they will face HUGE sanctions by the vast majority of the world because such a move will be seen as an act of aggression.
Israel, Pakistan and India were not forced to sign the treaty, so others could of chosen not to aswell.
North Koreas nuclear weapons are a major concern and being dealt with. Muslim states are the only others trying to get them. South Africa tried but then agreed not to develop them.
If others didnt sign they would have faced sanctions this is why they did sign.There is no one who likes not to be armed in a terrifing place as todays world.

If Palestinians keep firing rockets into Israel and killing civilians then Israel will keep hitting back. Its an endless cycle and the palestinians suffer the most so they should break that cycle.

The British Empire did what was best for the United Kingdom most of the time but when you look at some of our enemies or the technological / scientific advances our actions have been a good thing for the world as well.
Its a question of balance. No country has a clean record, but some countries have done more good than bad. Thats the case when it comes to Britain, just as its the case when talking about australia, canada and the USA.

The United Nations isnt perfect but the world is a better place with such a forum for all countries of the world to voice their opinion. Lets not forget it was the USA and UK that helped create the United Nations, and all those countries which dont have veto power didnt have to join they chose to. And if you choose to join a club you must respect the rules, one of the rules is that some members have veto power.
Anyway a general assembly vote would of done nothing to stop Israel.

The UN security Council needed to give the major powers veto power at the time because otherwise they simply would never of signed up to such an international organisation.
The world is safer because these major powers talk to each other and no longer fight.
When it comes to nuclear weapons, this is really simple. It is only illegal for a country to have nuclear weapons if they signed a treaty. ISRAEL, Pakistan and India never signed it unlike the rest of the world

They can choose to withdraw from the treaty if they like. If they do they will face HUGE sanctions by the vast majority of the world because such a move will be seen as an act of aggression.
Israel, Pakistan and India were not forced to sign the treaty, so others could of chosen not to aswell.
North Koreas nuclear weapons are a major concern and being dealt with. Muslim states are the only others trying to get them. South Africa tried but then agreed not to develop them.

I do speak of their war crimes and condemn their illegal occupation of the Palestine. I fully accept that the UN isnt perfect and that because of the USA having a veto it can not act against Israel.
However we have to be realistic and look at how peace is going to be obtained. Palestinians can not defeat Israel there for negotiations and truce are the only way. If HAMAS said it excepts in principle that Israel has a right to exist and it stopped firing rockets then the peace talks would work

Israel wanted to maintain the truce, it was HAMAS that announced it wouldnt be renewed which led to the recent conflict.
Both sides were guilty of violating the ceasefire but only one side ended it and that was HAMAS.
If Palestinians keep firing rockets into Israel and killing civilians then Israel will keep hitting back. Its an endless cycle and the palestinians suffer the most so they should break that cycle.

You dont have to sign the treaty to be a member of the UN. Pakistan is a member of the UN, has nuclear weapons, is a muslim country and yet its not attacked by the west for having nukes, infact America helps protect pakistans nuclear weapons.
the treaty applies to everyone thats signed it which is almost every country on the planet, with the exception of North Korea, its arab / muslim countries that have violated the treaty on several occasions

Pakistan is hardly a modern democracy right now, but the west including Britain is trying to help it become one. When that happens then perhaps your people will have more of a chance at "separation.
Armed resistance clearly doesnt work because Pakistan is still a sovereign state and it is able to crush any rebellion within its border as it gets western weapons and hardware. Fighting just leads to more suffering of your people.

Half the people of the UK were against the war in Iraq, and we shouldnt forget we went into Iraq because we thought (along with most of the world) that Saddam was developing or had nuclear weapons (which would be illegal under international law)
We didnt go there to spread democracy. Just like we didnt go to Afghanistan to spread democracy, we removed a regime that supported a bunch of terrorists responsible for 3000 deaths, including 67 British citizens on 9/11

Most of the world was against the war in Iraq if thats what your talking about . However no UN resolution was made ordering the war to end, quite the opposite, For the past 4 years Britain and America have had troops in Iraq under a UN mandate, making the troop presence fully legal.
Even when the world was against our invasion, most though Saddam did have weapons, France, Russia certainly did.
Israel; never signed the nuclear non proliferation treaty.. Iraq did. Afghanistan hid terrorists

Many countries including Russia who opposed the Iraq war thought Saddam did have WMD. He was bluffing though.

the UN didnt approve the war however they did aprove the outcome of it, US forces have been in Iraq for 4 years under a United Nations mandate.

The United Nations has never declared that Britain and America broke international law, they never ordered us to leave. They never gave us permision to go in but within months they unanimously approved US forces remaining in Iraq and they all accept Iraqs sovereignty and its new leaders. Not something theyd do if they considered everything about the war illegal.
Iraq invaded a country in the 1990s, the UN security council ordered it to leave and it didnt, which led to force being approved.

Many were glad saddam was removed from power and all countries recognized the new democratic sovereign state. Bush did want others with him in Iraq, many countries did join. Half of european countries were originally in favour of the war as well.
International law isnt perfect, but this world has never been more peaceful. Things are better today than they were with no UN and NO international law.
