I'm 2011 years old now, and man, i saw these live back in the day with their original line up when jesus was on lead guitar... i was in the vip box with his disciples, getting drunk, having a blast, you don't get bands like this nowadays! Unfortunately Jesus turned to drugs and started telling people wacky stories about walking on water and curing blind people so had some problems with the local authorities and had to leave the band, but this line up is just as good!!!

The first time I heard of Saxon was when my 12 year old sister showed me that awesome horror movie "Twilight"... Yngwie gives me a headache these days but I still have my vinyl copy of the first Rising Force album...it's incredible! Vinnie Moore was always great - I love the UFO remake of "Love to love". It's just evolved... bands like Saxon, Maiden & Priest were a massive influence on the likes of Metallica, Megadeth & Slayer from there we got Pantera, Machine Head etc,, they in turn must have influenced bands like Lamb of God & Devildriver. although Saxon may sound different to metal bands of today, believe me 30+ yrs ago this was heavy metal! And it still sound amazing today!

Saw Saxon 3 times over 20 years. Those guys always rocked. Got 5 albums on vinyl and got holes in those records now.

I really don't get all this hating on new bands. I mean sure, most of my favorite bands are from the 70's and 80's, but we do have lots of great bands these days as well. For example Grand Magus and 3 Inches of Blood are two amazing old school heavy metal bands, both of which have been formed in the 2000's. Just be open to new stuff as well and don't follow the main stream and you might just be pleasantly surprised. ;)

@bloobear1 It is a compliment. Gary Moore is awesome....maybe got a little too bluesy for my taste but he's really good. Yngwie gives me a headache these days but I still have my vinyl copy of the first Rising Force album...it's incredible! Vinnie Moore was always great - I love the UFO remake of "Love to love". And Tony is probably one of the greatest musicians that no one ever heard of! Take care, have fun...keep the plectrum close in hand.

It's just evolved... bands like Saxon, Maiden & Priest were a massive influence on the likes of Metallica, Megadeth & Slayer from there we got Pantera, Machine Head etc,, they in turn must have influenced bands like Lamb of God & Devildriver. although Saxon may sound different to metal bands of today, believe me 30+ yrs ago this was heavy metal! And it still sound amazing today!

Saw Saxon 3 times over 20 years. Those guys always rocked. Got 5 albums on vinyl and got holes in those records now.

I really don't get all this hating on new bands. I mean sure, most of my favorite bands are from the 70's and 80's, but we do have lots of great bands these days as well. For example Grand Magus and 3 Inches of Blood are two amazing old school heavy metal bands, both of which have been formed in the 2000's. Just be open to new stuff as well and don't follow the main stream and you might just be pleasantly surprised. ;)
