The Widow just asks him to have sex with her rather then be raped because her husband is dead and she can't have sex anymore...this song is really sad and depressing, there is no room for any other interpretation...

What I've noticed is that the comments for this video are not nasty at all. Although I've seen, on far better videos, horrible comments that just make you hate humanity.

I have come to believe that the people watching this video, obviously, like the Decemberists. As I do.

Perhaps that style of music (alternative/indie??) captures an audience of less violent, kinder people.
