This "Countdown" makes it look like all bad movies where made between the 1950s and the 1980s, but there where some bad ones before that time and many many really horrible ones from the 90s and 2000s.

It also concentrates on B-movies which are -too- easy targets, I would have preferred to see some more big Hollywood Pictures which are absolutely bad and unwatchable.

@You're right. Nobody expects an Oscar-class movie from the likes of Roger Corman or Ed Wood, or from some obscure Van Nuys studio. The REALLY bad movies are those that come from prominent directors, major studios, A-list actors--movies that were intended to aspire to the best and instead flopped dismally. Because of poor inception, egotistical directors (Heaven's Gate is a good example, as you mention), etc. Some others:

Generally agree with this list. But while it's easy to pick-out Corman pics and 70's Kung Fu movies---they weren't ever intended to be high art. You need to pick films that had major stars, budgets, and studios and yet are REALLY bad:

"The Conquerer" (1956) starring John Wayne as---Ghengis Khan

"Heaven's Gate" (1980) 30 years later still the only film ever to lose the most money, and sank United Artists

"Lost Horizon" (1973) a musical from the novel with major stars

No Manos? No Monster A Go-Go? Manos is #1 and M.A.G.G. is #4 on IMDB's Worst 100 list. I kept count and it ended up that I already own 18 of these 50. I'm proud of that. lol. Mostly all the ones from 1963 and earlier. I don't like "newer" bad movies. They don't have that kitchy camp quality of the old black & white drive-in crappies. I'm glad they honored this niche of Hollywood and its wannabes in the 1994 Ed Wood movie. Martin Landau won the oscar for his portrayal of Bela Lugosi. Bela is God!

@ChuckyBlackheart I agree. While The Godfather was an ok film, I've never been able to understand the hype and adulation it has always gotten. "Scenes playout and nothing happens" is an apt observation of the film. I think part of the reason it was praised is because it had Brando in it, before he really deteriorated as an actor, but he mostly mumbles throughout the film and I couldn't understand what he was saying. And James Caan was the "hot" young actor of the moment when the film was made.

@frantic1971 I think what I get from it is the subtle nuances of the acting and the mood. The story is decent and the pacing is slow, but the acting is extraordinary (esp. Pacino).

As far as the slow pacing, that was pretty common for movies back then. How many movies nowadays do you see with an intermission?

ANY Uwe Boll movie most definitely deserves to be on this list.

Any Paris Hilton movie is incredibly bad too. I mean just because the production might be decent doesn't mean the movie itself is good by any measure. Howard the duck is a good example. It had a big budget and good special effects for its time, but it was still a complete mess.
