One of the 2 fastest guitar soloists ever...It's a real close bet between Johnny Winter and Alvin Lee...But,as far as great guitar riff intros go,this and Goin' Home(Alvin Lee) are the best,in my opinion...This one is def a Barn-burner!!! Maybe add Guitarist for XYZ ( Inside Out) in the mix too.
@kmars21 Chorus or phaser? I want to get that tone going! I always thought he used a MXR Phaser 90? The chorus pedal came later with the Erlewine, I think....
I almost crashed my car when I first heard this song. Pulled over & was way stoked! Would sneak out of my parents house to see Johnny & Edgar Winter - lol - the hard part was sneaking back in. Way worth the effort for sure.
Every time I would see Johnny Winter, he would step on stage and ram it down your throat from the beginning and never let up. Lightning flew from his fingers. The first solo in Bony says it all. His shows wiped you out. Thanks for the post.
@1959Lefty yeah, yeah, i barely remember seeing him in san bernardino, 'cause i was stoned, but that's what i recall, just high energy, non stop, from beginning to end! and rick darringer, and i think pat travers were also there. this was 1977 or 8.
@m1kewithaone Derringer wasn't in Johnnys band that late on, mate. By the time this was cut, '75 or so, Floyd Radford was his second guitarist. Derringer was in his band around the first live album, though, in '70 or '71.
@Innerspace100 no i meant i saw rick darringer in his own band opening for johnny winter, second on stage was pat travers i think, then johnny winter. i was stoned on acid that night and i really don't remember much about that concert, but i do remember johnny doing this song.
@Innerspace100 *The first solo in Bony is Floyd Radford, BTW. Johnny's never played like that.*
Wow.....that opening solo is so unmistakingly Johnny Winter, especially with his classic phaser tone... Floyd was a klller player for sure, but he doesn't exctie the way Johnny did! I don't think Johnny's ego would allow his second to open up, expecially after the announcer introduces ... "JOHNNY WINTER!" ... lol...

Impossível dormir ao som de Winter. A guitarra dele não para um segundo e que timbre ótimo e fácil de identificar. A voz deledivinamente bluesy.

Captured Live is his best work, more pronounced flange in the guitar,.. and of course he's rippin it up.
