I can never understand in a general way how kenyans do not keep attetion to what they are doign, they seem to wander off or have big ideas beyond the realitymmwhere as in asia they seem to have more arty and practical skills,.i am thinkign of thailand and china,.i guess i cannot compare as i been a tourist many times in kenya but training form europeans wil help if kenyas would realsie they NEED training,,
@suirvale biggest problem is power....have a reliable grid with relatively cheaper electricity and manufacturing will boom. A modern railway will also help
@MTOTOwaNYAYO but its a lot more than that ,.kenyans wil leave me waiting and not bothered too much if they turn up hours late,, they read silly self help american books for business etc which are old rubbish nowadays.i email lots of interestign stuff to kenyans and they never give me feedback,.cheers anyway,.
kenya needs a revolution to kick out these fat cat politicians and break ties with imperial countries like the UK and the U.S who don't give a damn about us. Only when the people are united in this revolutionary cause, will they never be defeated.
@africanfromafrica what you talking about? UK has approached the Kenyan Government numerous times about initiating investigations into stolen money lodged in foreign accounts, but the Kenyan government hasn't lifted a finger. The UK who doesn't give a damn about you is waiting for Kenya to ask for it's money back.
That's cos this interview is not about the positives. Go watch a Kenyan tourist video to see the positives and in future take note that if a video has Corruption in it's description - it's probably going to be about corruption. The same way a video called "Famine in East africa" is going to be about... guess?? Yes, famine.
If by "Kenyans from all walks of life" they meant the country's top lawyers, doctors, and politicos, then yes, this video featured Kenyans from all walks of life.
I think you need to look into the navigation on the AJE website. When I check in one week later, the counter is only on 1676 views. For such an important topic that says to me that something is wrong with the navigation not the content.
I like the cafe series. It is authentic setting it in a real cafe. My problem is that the background hub-hub takes away the impact of what some of the guests are saying. It doesn't have to be silent, but having people using their phones in the background is distracting. But content wise, this is much better than the artificial discussions I see on BBC World News.
Shikwati is right - STOP AID NOW. Wiki says he's libertarian which interesting. Wangui's coverage of what's been achieved fills me with hope. She knows Kenyans. These two get it.
Wainaina with the class action suit is speaking my language. The Kenyan American lady is clueless about anything beyond aps. Uni student did well to set her straight 'you may not have bribed, but someone in your company will have'.
The 2030 guy is driven by kshs signs. It was disappointing (but not surprising) to see he needed prompting in order to address political and social reform.
Githongo summed things up very well and I'm glad he and Wainaina brought up the issue of culture. Cultural identity (and positive ethnicity) is extremely important - Mkosa mila ni mtumwa
@TetuaMaana Your first sentence is kinda true. There is nothing wrong with Mugo but his drive is much of a top down approach which might not necessarily solve the problems that Kenya.
True, we all want Kenya to emerge as a prosperous country, the question is, is this the best possible model to achieve that growth and transformation? I'm afraid its not.
@MrDeeEm I agree with that we have to find our own way of making our mark on the world. I also think that simple, cost effective models of development should be implemented asap. Did you see this video from aljazeera called 'Witness Africa rising'? Something like that.
I dont understand why the people in power make such bad decisions. Is it because they are ignorant? don't care about ordinary kenyans? controlled by richer, more powerful people?
let me tell you brothers and sisters. stop paying this ridiculous debt designed by the neo colonialists to keep you poor and keep them in charge. assert yourself, and shift the power balance. i see you are waking up. fantastic. keep it up!

@TetuaMaana A bottom up approach would work better for Kenya. We need the masses to be empowered.
