@standingontruth1 Thankfully, humanity isn't enslaved by the tyrants that used the bible to preach blind obedience anymore. So kindly screw off. Thanks.
@standingontruth1 yea, i got some news for ya! If 'God' judges everyone by this, then EVERYONE is going to hell. I don't care how many times you pray, but ye will burn in the firey pits! Haha! Oh, and I got two more words for you. FUCK. GOD.
Loving the fact that this type of music is only possible if the people playing really know how to play. Too often in todays pop music no-one really knows how to play their instrument. Or all the "music" is by computer/keyboard or other means. Great stuff!!!! :D
Leader and trumpeter Frank Assunto was a fantastic singer as can be heard here. He could have ended up being much more popular than he was "allowed" to become. Not the musicians themselves pigeonholded themselves and their music but "experts" and "critics" did that for them. As far as I know Frank was offered only one record date outside of his own band (Billy Kyle and Trummy Young were dealt similar cards after they joined Louis Armstrong). But don't get me wrong, I love the Dukes!
@platschheimer definitely a matter of opinion. I love this type of jazz. A real form of art nit just wannabe singers like lady gaga and niki minaj n all those lame artists people these days seem to like. Now that's a bunch of monkeys messing around with beats n horrible, unclever lyrics
@beaglemanzzz sorry for the late reply, i think its kinda cool because you have two bass instruments and switching them off makes more variety, besides they aren't even the same class of instruments.
@ErichKontermann you can go to hell for saying that, what the fuck is wrong with you? Dixieland is real music, not that rap. louis would kick your ass all the way from heaven
I used to stand outside the Metropole Cafe on Seventh Avenue and listen to these guys play from a bandstand behind the bar. the story didn't end well for the Assuntos but they could blow with the best of them.
WOW!!!! Holy Crap I had forgotten about this group. I have this album buried somewhere. Bought it when I was a teenager. Played trombone in the high school band and I loved Dixieland Jazz.. It was the 1960's and I was supposed to be into other styles of music so I became a closet dixieland listener due to peer pressure. LOL But I love dixieland jazz to this day.
Esta cancion me hace recordar la etapa mas bonita, inocente y pura de mi vida.
