@benmarks1984 also there was speculation that dalglish resigned because he had a affair with peters wife sandra which at that time beardsley was a legend and the owner didnt want to loose him
Nice one, Souness. You got rid of a player at his peak for only a million quid and instead, shelled out £2.9 million for a striker who had nowhere as much skill and grace as Beardsley. Souness should have also kept McMahon and Venison and bought better defenders. Mark Wright was very good in the air but someone was needed on the ground of the calibre of say Mark Lawrenson back in 1991.
At 2:15 Pedro is nowhere but by 2:21 - WTF! you can just see the whole back line open their mouths and swallow the whole thing, hook, line and sinker. i love the way he played football - all business, no show, just always delivering the goods and never bragging about it, just looking happy to be on the pitch. what a player. makes me proud to be a geordie.
i honestly believe from what ive saw so far luiz suarez is another beardsley player in the making.and souness was a total knob for selling him CRIMINAL
Being a toon army fan.. Beardsley was a magician who just loved playing .. and makes today's "skill" players like Rooney and Gerrard etc look second rate..faster,more skillful and fantastic reading the game.. (Cole,Aldridge and Lineker etc would vouch for that)..best player ever in a black and white shirt..

To sell Beardsley in 91 was just shere madness. Definitely something wrong with Souness to change all these players too rapidly.

@AshtonArcher Thats why Souness has never won anything in England as a manager . Good player but a shit manager.

That bleeding European ban. We would have 10 European cups instead of 5. That 1988 team was orgasmic
