My own baby girl Dachshund does just that, but she has doggie stairs because I don't want her to strain her back from flopping off the bed too much. Dachshunds usually end up with a history of back problems so I'm always careful with my little angel.

I've had Dachschunds for almost all my life, I've seen some passed for old and other for disease, every time I see one on the street I smile and remember my dogs, right now I only have one as that's the maximum allowed at the community, whish I could have more though. Dachschunds are, per my experience, one of the best breeds for children, they help to develop personality, respect and fun, so I can say -WITH ABSOLUTE CONFIDENCE DUE TO MY EXPERIENCE- that the dog on the video is not suffering.

I also have a Dachshund. He shakes just like that when he is cold, overly happy, or even scared. The shaking doesn't necessarily mean he's scared. The ears and the look in his eyes show that he is nervous/scared though.
This is abuse, whether you believe it or not. That dog is scared to death. It's shaking... and just look at it's ears. If you knew anything about the proper treatment of a dog, you would know that when it pulls it's ears back like that, it's a behavioral sign that means he's scared.

The dog can move if it wants to, it just sitting there. all dachshunds shiver.Sometimes dogs put their ears back when they hear a high pitched sound, or something catches their attention. Plus his ears aren't really back, I think they flick back at one point where it probably heard a sound too high of a frequency for us to hear. I have a dachshund and its ears are always like that. the dog is fine. its not your pet anyways, for all you know it could do that all the time.

One your dog is a silent victim of family abuse such as slamming doors, physical/emotional agony and endless fear. Two your dog has a health issue Insulinoma and/or Hypoglycemia. Does your dog have any other symptoms? The last thing it could be is dachshunds are a cold-blooded, get him a sweater! Either way trembling is not a trait that is bred into a dog. That is false.

My daschund is a short haired tremble-pup. Its not cruel, thats just what daschunds do, really, he sits with me on the couch, curls up with me on his own free will, and trembles. Its what they do!

ahhh, i suspect the dog was onlt posing a long while so he/she was tired. Also, resting head on cushion does not show fear. The dog seemed healthy, relatively calm, and certainly not in an abused state! TSK! I own the same dog and I don't take offence at this ad- lighten up, people!

okay, i guess i had to review this vid & I retract the 'nervous' bit, but daschunds can be hi-strung, too. I suppose in a commercial/ filming situation, during long periods on time- that could produce unwarranted stress on the dog . Sorry!

I also have a Dachshund. He shakes just like that when he is cold, overly happy, or even scared. The shaking doesn't necessarily mean he's scared. The ears and the look in his eyes show that he is nervous/scared though.

This is abuse, whether you believe it or not. That dog is scared to death. It's shaking... and just look at it's ears. If you knew anything about the proper treatment of a dog, you would know that when it pulls it's ears back like that, it's a behavioral sign that means he's scared.
It's emotional abuse, which is animal cruelty.

i'm pretty sure its not. The dog can move if it wants to, it just sitting there. all dachshunds shiver.Sometimes dogs put their ears back when they hear a high pitched sound, or something catches their attention. Plus his ears aren't really back, I think they flick back at one point where it probably heard a sound too high of a frequency for us to hear. I have a dachshund and its ears are always like that. the dog is fine. its not your pet anyways, for all you know it could do that all the time.

I have A wiener dog and his ears are like that all the time. It's a recessive trait in Dachshunds. Very rare, but still, it happens.

and as for the shaking, im not sure why she does it, but she does it a lot. coco's not scared of me (um, duh)..when I sit down she crawls onto my lap but then continues shaking. i know dachshunds can get spasms if their back is in pain, but it doesn't seem like that's where it's coming from?

@Finthorn, Humor is one thing, but not at the expense of an animal. Dachshunds are my favorite of all creatures - even over most humans. You know those hot dog Halloween costumes? Get rid of them. I agree with Webkinz. It's not funny when you know some cultures do eat dogs.

@Finthorn Thank you. I just don't care for the namesake. I had a dog many years ago, who would shake quite a bit of the time and I'd jokingly say he made a nice shoe-buffer. I didn't use him as one, of course, but play-on-words can be an issue at times.
