@captainbimble You're not wrong Captain. JMJ is the reason that I took up piano. Used to annoy my teacher by warming up with this lol! It'll never catch on...hes just a French upstart he used to say. ERM! WRONG lol! Dont play piano now......I play synths :)
Please, avoid buying Oxygen on CD or MP3. Try to acquire this album on LP if you can read it... An original vinyl. You'll never regret it ! 'Idem' for Equinoxe album because the sound is more pure.
OK, but it's a bit "Popy". If you want to get really "spaced" listen to early Tangerine Dream albums, like - Zeit, Alpha Centauri, Phaedra, Atem and Rubycon. A dark room, a good set of headphones and a bottle of red. Then say goodbye to mother earth and go surfing through the cosmos. Happy days.

@speeeedy77 well, to be honest, it is not a song, the Oxygene is the whole album. recommended to be listened to as a whole. still, this album is timeless.
@speeeedy77 Hyperventilation! I know this trick. But the best way to do it is to sit, breath for a while, and than stand up. But you must be careful, cause you can even pass out, so better do this near the bed.
@speeeedy77 I havent heard this since when it came out and no one i know even heard of this i was like 19 years old many moons ago so glad i found it hard to remember back 30 or more years lmao
@TheKwatch it still sounds good because it was made with hardware synths. most electronic music is made on computers so it sounds like fromchildrens toys, especially if you listen to stuff from the 90s.
i was born in 1984 and since I was little i've been listening to my magnetic tapes older than me...when i went first 2 weeks to school my parents had to play september song from this awesome musician , otherwise i would refuse to go...i miss those times but this helps me to recreate the mood.thank you JMJ
This music from JMJ is just pure genious, and to think this was 1976, this music was way way way ahead off its time and still sounds modern by todays standards.
@TheKwatch Uh, way better shit than this. No offense, but the problem is not the technology. a statement that jean michel jarre would find amusing, to say the least. the problem is file sharing. It's made making an album in a studio impossible. So you have thousands of bedroom musicians, working days as dishwashers, and piddling around on the weekends with their 800 dollar setups. If they're lucky.
@BennOliverr this is NOT shit compare it to the likes of wretch 32 and usher with all the tech available and synthersizers i would at least accept better stuff than now i may not have been born in the seventies i was born in the 90s my school mates call me weird cause i like this but i just say this is the shit not wretch 32 etc.

I don't know about you guys but I hear stories when I listen to these songs. It's like a 1960 retro space fantasy inside a phaser battle of some kind. By phasers I mean those echoing fxs flying in and out.
@boyoxygen And what exactly makes him more of a composer than the DJs who make music which is just as good and complex? I understand that he is a pioneer, but I don't see why that earns him the title of "composer" over equally skilled people that we call DJs.
@ChristianScherwin I prefer thinking about him as composer than DJ because of the style of his music
DJs are for mass, we listen them on parties in car radio and tv, but jean goes as an composer & legend for me, im listening to many radio shoutcasts and sadly i couldnt hear his music for very long time in media except by rare events, YT and my personal cd collection
his music style is more like classical electronic music, imo more serious than any other DJs good work and survived in time changes
@ChristianScherwin Djs make music out of other peoples songs tiesto has never written anything technically, Djs are Conductors and Arrangers Whilst Producers And Synth players like Jarre are the composers and there is a massive difference between a conductor and a composer

Additionally, in order to be a composer you need years and years of music studies in a coservatory or a university!! In order to be a DJ you just have to learn to operate some machines... Hope I helped.

For me when Jean Michel Jarre has begun his long career, he was an alien with his music and I was a big fan for several years until mid of the eighties. This album is a masterpiece of the electronic music.
