tar oil sand extraction is not a crime. I am not saying that you dont need to protest. We need to keep pressure oil producers to make it more environmentally friendly. I see the tar sand has many positive effects on the ongoing war on middle east on the hidden agenda of energy security. These resources will be used one way or the other. Best way is to use it in more cleaner way. and to sequester the same amount of carbon by carbon sequestration projects and green technologies.
Yes, this operation is a crime against mother earth. Sadly, the provincial government let's big oil do as they please. For two years running, the government failed to collect $1,000,000,000.00 in royalties annually. That's $3000.00 per man, woman and child. In other words, I pay taxes so that big oil gets to extract the resources of the province practically for free. Robbing from the poor and giving to the rich!
