  • If it comes a day when games cost 100$ witht the game alone i will quit gaming! Like for srsly! XD

  • all of you are autistic faggots

    do work son

  • @pwnageking5

Whats wrong with autism? Both my smaller brothers have it, so what exactly are you trying to say?

  • @Jermz1997 he's a bigot.

  • @pwnageking5 DIE.

  • Gaming in the clinton years is the biggest steaming pile of shit i've ever seen.

no redeeming features, im glad retsuprae give this guy their attention. fuck y'all

  • Mario is just like toy story!

  • What people don't seem to understand is that Gaming in the Clinton years is about 90s nostalgia and not the actual review itself...do some research on this guy. Hes infamous for going off track and being "so-bad-its-good"

  • @Campingcam

    oh,really?

  • have this guy really played the game? i don't think so cuz if i had he would kow the gameis alot more fun hard and awsome then he says it is

  • this game is boring.

  • "The game is way too short, only 15 main levels"

Yeah, each with a whole bunch of different missions, it took me months to get all 120 stars. This guy is an ass.

  • I think that the star, being called "blast down the wall" is pretty self explanitory, and easy to find.

  • @DarkKirby115 I could never never figure which wall or how to blast it down, so no

  • @TheCrimsonPower Maybe you suck?

  • @Campingcam your mom sucks better than me

  • @TheCrimsonPower Thats what I hear...

  • 1.Uh, if some of the stars are "impossible to find" than are you completly sure that most people will finish it in two weeks? You seem to contradict yourself there.

2.Also, the game's ending is the best in gaming history? I highly doubt it.

3.You barely mention gameplay. I don't care about cinematics or realism in games. I just want to have fun with it. Y'know, kind've like, A GAME?

4.Hollywood has payed attention to games since the nes era at the very least.

    Not a good review.

  • I played I lot on Nintendo 64 during the 90's. A very funny game, but shortly went underrated in Brazil after newest games for the Nintendo 64 came out in the stores.

  • I usually hate full-priced remakes, but Super Mario 64 DS is so much better than the original version. Sure, there's no analog stick on the DS but there's so much more content that it really deserves a higher price point, plus the visuals were mind-blowing on a handheld back in 2004. I really hope Nintendo adds a bunch of new content to Ocarina of Time 3D, otherwise there's no way I'm dropping $40 for it(unless it's bundled with Majora's Mask, but that's not happening).

  • @FFFan3445 I found the controls on the DS very stiff and clunky. Mario 64 was later sold for that reason. I found it a nice piece of nostalgia, it was the better version, but those controls.... very frustrating.

  • @Blitzbok I accidentally hit the downthumb button on your comment instead of "reply," sorry.

Anyways, the 3DS' analog stick fixes that problem for me. I didn't mind the controls for SM64DS even with a D-pad, though. *heartheart*

  • You guys DO realize that this was NOT a negative review, right? It's not a perfect game and it does have its flaws, most of which he pointed out. If you actually LISTENED to the review you would know that he had far more positive things to say than negative.

  • @MrOwlyOwl: You DO realize that the 'written in the 90s' gimmick is fake, right? Right? Righttttt? :P

  • ha i got the 120 stars!!!

  • You people do realize this review was made over 10 years ago.. and the guy is just reading it off..

  • If gaming was a religion, I'd be a priest by now.

  • Gosh, stop being such fanboys people. This reviewer simply isn't affected by fanboyism or blinding nostalgia, since he was actually playing it when it came out. Mario 64 is by no means perfect, and even as a 6 year old kid I was able to recognize how overrated it was. The point he makes about how the game could be improved with more plot development certainly isn't uncalled for, and something that was adressed with later titles such as Banjo Kazooie. Fuck damn youtube comment limits.

  • @MrOwlyOwl

It's a bloody Mario game! Plot? That's not their focus at all. To say a Mario game needs plot development is to say Halo needs more RPG elements. NOT THE POINT.

  • @MrOwlyOwl

Yeah, I see some real morons commenting on Gaming In The Clinton years stuff. Despite the guy having a few pretty bad reviews, he does bring up very good points at times and does so without bias. My favorite example is the FFVII review; he certainly shows why the game isn't all that it's cracked up to be from the perspective of an experienced player from the 90s. It wasn't much of an improvements from even the most generic SNES RPGs...

Nostalgia can make people utterly ignorant...

  • @Grahamx227 The only area I'd agree with regarding FF7 was the battle system. Give it FFX's battle system, and you have a very complete title. Certainly, it remains the pinnacle of the FF series, along with FF8 and FF6. Those critical of 7 are very short sighted, never have I seen a credible case put forward.

  • @MrOwlyOwl You are correct, it WAS groundbreaking at the time, but has not aged well. I respect it's place gaming history, but it no longer is deserving of lofty praise. Spyro, of the same era, completely out stripped this, as did many other titles, such as Banjo Kazooie, as you mentioned.

  • @MrOwlyOwl Completely agree with you. I remember I always told my Nintendo fanboy friends how overrated this game was.

  • @MrOwlyOwl i guess super mario galaxy 1 and 2 suck dick too, then

  • best ending scene in history?Do you even play video games?

  • This game is too easy, except that its too hard

  • It would've been better if Peach had breast cancer.

  • This guy is a dumbass If he thinks Super Mario 64 sucks then he must think every game sucks

  • You know what, how about you all are the d-bags. The review almost always have memorized or pre-written lines, they're performing. Take your silly need to crudely insult other humans where humans actually deserve to be insulted.

-cool game indeed, the ds version rocks as well.

  • What an asstard

  • graphics are cinematic x DDD

  • laughing at people getting pissed off at a 14 year old review.

  • 0:40 "you can do just about anything..."

What, even make toasties? (Don't bother trolling- I love mario 64 as much as the next guy does :D)

  • Holy fucking shit, you are soooo annoying! you sound like a monotone nagging pessimist!!! you are so boring to listnen to, even when you say something positive!

  • Only 2 weeks? That's a long time.

  • Maybe the navgtr group should post this in the info section so people would actually know what they are complaining about:

    tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/GamingInTheClintonYears

  • In what world does Toy Story fit in with Super Mario 64?

  • what does Toy Story have to do wit this!???? Rage!!!

  • wtf toy story?

  • "Frustrating"? "Gets old?" "Short?" Who the fuck is this guy? Did he review this game a day after it came out not realizing it would be considered a masterpiece even today, 15 years later? Complete bullshit.

  • @xAfterDawnx it is only considered a masterpiece by the small minority of faggy fanboys such as yurself. To everyone else this game is fucking shitty, outclassed times infinity by the plaformers of Rare. Did it innovate, inspire and do 3d platforming first? Yes, absolutely. But that means nothing when it is absolute shit compared to the evolution of the format by DK64/Banjo-Kazooie/Tooie/Conker.

  • @jayrobson88

If people consider this a masterpiece then why not let them? You seem to be trying you force your own opinion on people. I have friends who aren't Nintendo fanboys who absolutely LOVE this game. Besides, the platformer genre has been evolved with the release of Galaxy 2. Sadly, Nuts & Bolts was awful.

  • @jayrobson88 lol buddy you don't know shit. I'm not a fanboy of this game at ALL, and if you had a half a fucking brain you would realize it's a HUGE majority of people that disagree with this review, and you should read the fucking comments if you're too stupid to see that. And how the fuck did DK64/BK/BT/Conker evolve the format? They were the same genre of games with the same style of gameplay with help by the same company that created SM64. There's no fucking "evolution" here.

  • @xAfterDawnx Youre a fucking idiot. So SM64 is the same game with the same grafix, the same gamplay depth and variety? Every other game after SM64 is just 'copyin' it? The style of gameplay superficially looks the same but in reality is far far different.

  • @jayrobson88 LMFAO when did I ever say that? Stop putting words in my mouth, I said there is no evolution comparing BK64 to SM64, not ALL games.

Seriously buddy you're better off to stop commenting and making yourself look like a bigger dumbass and digging your hole deeper than arguing your opinion against everybody else's. Nobody cares about your opinion because it's clearly very far off from the norm and people are only going to believe their own opinions.

  • LOOK IM A HARDCORE SONIC FAN AND I STILL SAY THIS GAME KICKED ASS =D

  • @knucklesp125 What's it like being a furry?

  • Too short? Get's Old? What the hell...

Best ending ever, looks just like Toy Story, when the disc drive is introduced?? XD

  • @iamtheburninator I see you don't seem to grasp the fact that this was very likely recorded back in 1996.

  • @TsukentoX I do, that is why I find it so humorous.

  • It never got boring... you are gay.

  • this faggot NEVER got the real ending.

  • fuck toy story

  • @coolbluelights Everybody likes three Toy Story movies.

  • @Hemley1 I don't. it's cheezy crappy looking, lazy and cheap computer animation. Real hand drawn cartoons are far superior!

  • Oh Jesus, I remember this game, it knocked me off my feet when I was seven.

Is the reviewer one of those robot voices?

"maybe companies will lower software prices to attract buyers"

I just got starcraft 2 for $60 bucks lol, they jacked the price = /

  • WTF this video is put in twice ! There's this one and the other which is called "Super Mario 64" ! And they're both made by this guy ! Weird.....

  • THE SUPERGRAPHICS

    CAMERA MOVEMENT

    AND REAL VOICES

    R.I.P. George Wood.

  • Rofl, I love how he thinks 2 weeks is short for a game, nowadays about every game is possible to beat in a few days.

  • @alt9001 i know what u mean almost every game i have baught apart from oblivion and dragon age i have beaten in one sitting

  • @alt9001 I know right? Quality over quantity if you ask me. I'd rather play an impeccable game with great pacing I can beat in a few days than one full of filler that takes a month.

  • this review is much to opinionated to say the least.

  • dislike super mario 64 is an incredible game fuck you reviewer

  • So....it sucks...but then it's awesome? STFU 90s man.

  • The reviewer is BOWSER!!

  • Did he just go straight from 0 to 120 stars in a few seconds?

  • "In less than two weeks"

Actually, took me a day to get all 120 stars for the N64 version.

  • Great Graphics?

    Riight...

  • less than 2 weeks to beat the game? shit it took me a lot longer than that

  • we just got this in communist russia!

  • If anyone wants to play this I found out how to without downloadin' cuz I hate downloading :p.. If you wanna check it out the links right here: ( eARCADE [dot] TK ) just go the top left corner and hit "Retro Game Room" from there on I think it's pretty obvious what to do.

  • i think that hi likes toy story

  • unfortently the n64 is now gone, but it had wonderful games, the cd thing never worked really on the vintage gen because 1)hard to program in those days, cds were just starting out 2)console incompatabilty, cartridges and cds do not like each other... but despite it being gone, the n64 is still going strong today.probably thanks to this game+pokemon games.

  • @Leetsnugglage I agree that PS1 has a lot of good software content, and for sure way better RPGs. You do however have to appreciate so many gaming miracles from the N64, that were revolutionary, FPS changing Goldeneye, 3-D platform at its greatest-Super Mario 64 and Zelda was a good action adventure. Mario Kart was a fun racing game and in my opinion N64 was (and in a way still is) a very social gaming system.

  • Heh, I think you guys are missing out on a lot of enjoyment with these videos. They are funny and charming as long as you don't take them too seriously.

  • he says it gets boring in a couple of days but takes a couple of weeks to beat

  • Now I will troll you all.

I don't like Super Mario 64, and I don't really like the voice the reviewer expresses himself. But at least he uses arguments unlike YOU. So better...

Btw the reason I don't like SM64 is the camera, the childish super low-poly graphics and N64, which was completely unknown in my country, for a reason!

  • This reviewer sucks so much dick. This game was awesome.

  • what an idiot review

  • how the FUCK is mario 64 like toy story?

  • @evilisbliss and since when is two weeks short?! this is one of the longest and best games ive ever played on ANY system..idiot doesnt know what the hell he is talking about. he probably got bored watching a trailer or some dumb crap like that

  • less that two weeks.

    lol

  • Lol this guy sounds so amazed. I wonder what would happen if you used a time machine and took him to 2010 and showed him a game like elder scrolls oblivion. I bet he would shit his pants and die of a heart attack at the same tme.

  • 2 weeks IS SHORT!?!?! Man today we'd be lucky to have a game longer than 4 hours!

  • Back in the 90's, man. I was in my singles. My childhood game.

  • wait...what?! XDD First you say the game gets old fast, the you say the game is too short, then you complain about secret stars, then you praise there are secret stars. Make up your mind!

  • Tube? its aPIPE.

    RETARD

  • 70 DOLLARS

  • excellent review i totally agree

  • this guy is obsessed with Toy Story lol.

  • @BillyCauseyjr Remember when these reviews were written. Toy Story at the time was the milestone of graphical excellence. I remember 'Toy Story-like graphics' being a buzzphrase used by some head honchos at Nintendo to express the 'potential' of the N64.

  • @n8dogg87 I don't believe that these were written in the 90's, the review make referances to the other revies sometimes (castlevania) and Navigtr got pissed and acted as if the Final Fantasy 7 review was written by them.

  • @BillyCauseyjr No, you're pretty much completely wrong. Read the introduction on the navgtr website.

  • @n8dogg87 I have, and I said, i think they are lying that these are reviews written in teh 90's.

  • @BillyCauseyjr That sounds absolutely rediculous. Why would anyone waste their time making 'fake' 90s commentary on video games?

These segments weren't made by navgtr, they were originally part of a show broadcast on a public access channel in Maryland during the 90s called Flights of Fantasy. The narrator, George Wood, died four years ago.

  • is he trying to sell this game?

  • this guy is fucking awful at reviews

  • this game was awesome, and is still awesome! especially due to emulation.

and WTF why would a mario game ever need a plot, they're awesome even without one!

  • EDIT: ROFL! this youtube user just got rained on by 3 years of massive complaints. AKA: he just got PWNED!

  • cool i got my super mario 64 game for 1$ at a garage sell

  • lower software prices? it went from 15 bucks to 60 bucks in less than a decade LMFAO

  • @neeneethequeen

What? The N64 games were originally around 70 bucks. "15 bucks more than the first generation console games"

  • I hope the man that reviewed these games for GitCY died in a house fire.

  • PLOT DEVELOPMENT IN A MARIO GAME?! LOL

  • This man loved his Toy Story.

  • This fucking guy is talking about PLOT? in a MARIO GAME? when did mario games ever have or need a plot to them. ever since the original super mario games, its just been about one thing: Save the dumbass princess from the giant fucking dinosaur. plots were never necessary in Mario games and that's the way they kept it with the loose plot of Super Mario 64. Anyone bitching about lack of story in a Super Mario game doesnt know shit about video games. PERIOD

  • The guy reviewing this is an uber douchebag, this game is the epitome of an awesome gaming experience, I dare say it could be one of the best games ever made for a console, the replay value is just amazing, I never got tired of playing it when i was a kid.

  • How is lowering software prices virtual reality?

  • n64 was the best lol

  • its funny how much you suck : D

  • Interesting watching reviews from back then.

  • How in the hell can you compare this to Toy Story?

  • I've never been able to find the origin of these reviews, but they're hilariously bad and cannot be real.

I mean he pans some of the most beloved games of that era and extols some of the shittiest.

I really need to know where gaming in the clinton years came from!

  • it's from a show that aired on a public access channel in Maryland between 1992-2000.

It was called Flights of Fantasy and dealt with pretty much the whole geek culture. Video game reviews were only part of it.

There's a whole episode on youtube.

  • He has no idea what he is talkinga bout

  • Comment removed

  • @JackKlompus13 Never dis super mario sunshine!

  • @444mariosonic

You're right, but you should know that both games are among my absolute favorites.

  • @JackKlompus13

    64,

    sunshine,

    Galaxy,

    Best games ever

  • @444mariosonic

    I agree.

  • i just love to mess with his face

  • I wish if you messed with his face it would stay like that throughout the whole time you play it :D

  • Some stars are impossible to find?

There are hints in the beginning of the level

Blast the Wall (blast = cannon)

Watch for rolling rocks (=pit where rocks roll into.)

  • George Wood (the reviewer) would've LOVED the game if you could drive a car with your pregnant wife in it under the waterfall at 0:31!

  • Haha omg i tell you guys !

I loved this game when it was :P But i could only get the 108 stars :/ And in the end i had to quit :/

As the time went there came new machines to play with hehe :D

Nice game and good reporter 10 stars ;) Finger up if u with me ;)

  • i got like 111 thts bout it. I couldnt ever figure out which ones i missed after that.

  • "..64 other resons to get this game"-nice pun dude lmao

  • wow he loves toy story

  • It was a pretty big deal when this review was made.

  • When exactly was this review made? Was it done for tv or something?

  • Wow! Stereo! Original audio on left, voices on right! You need a sub! :D

  • i played the remake of the game (DS lite) you can play as yoshi, wario, mario, and luigi, i pwn at most chars but, you cant find yoshi on top of the castle, this ruins the game for me, lol

  • That is one of the best games on the n64, but yet he still has to find something to complain about this guy wouldent know what a great game is it it punched him in the face.

  • 2 weeks beating the game? i beat it in less than 3 days with all the stars!

  • i want to punch this reviewer in the face

  • yes!

  • I went 2 months without gaming in the clinton years and Im reintroduced this reviewer guy and his rhetoric of horror. Christ, he is such a dumbass.

  • @PaulWayne so do I

  • wow. he first says "this game's too easy" and later says "it's frustrating". lol.

  • FUCK YOU

  • boring!!!

  • this is history... even though its still fun, i bought n64 for 10 dollors

  • wonder who would actually sell u their N64 for 10 bucks...

  • Although I enjoy the fact that this dude puts time into all these reviews... his opinions half the time I don't agree with at all. "Too short." "After a few days it gets old." Yeah, maybe this nigga doesn't remember that this game BLEW everyone away when it came out. All I wanted that year was an N64.

Plus, what type of fucking "plot development scenes" do you want? You want to play this game, not watch it.

  • anomalous clouds i agree with u this guy sucks at interviewing and what made these games so fun when they came out was the fact that u were playing a game and not watching a movie and waiting for a plot devolpment to take place like most games are nowadays

  • I feel dirty now...

  • how is it fake????????

  • I remember when some N64 games were $70. Now people are paying $60 for extremely high-end major production games and complaining about the price!

  • 3:07 - 3:09 he says gays

  • Lol "Most gays cost around $70 dollars." 3:07

  • What an false profit. I never bought an N64 game for 70 dollars! 60 yeah but not 70....game reviewers can be so shallow sometimes...

  • let me get this strait so on his planet of navgtr he lives around video games...and pays $200 for a $60 game that is exactly how much I paid!

first 5 seconds and I hate this review 1/5 stars and I feel bad for mario.

  • God this review sucks... he said something about "impossible to find" stars??? THAT'S WHAT THE STAR NAMES ARE FOR!!! They give hints to where the stars are!! God... I'm glad I was only 6 when this game came out and didn't need to worry about reviews -_-

  • YOU FAIL!

  • Lol What a fucked up review. I mean showing us the ending in the review Lmao!

  • When was this reveiw made!? 1996?!?!

On another note: princess toadstool?? try peach...

  • That is her real name, you know that. She even says it at the intro of the game but to be fair she does say her nickname after that. I guess people back then called her Toadstool because that was the only name given, but stuck with Peach when Mario Party came out that gave her the nickname a permanent name. It's like how Robotnik is now being called Eggman because it was a nickname and they just sorta stuck with Eggman as an official name.

I sound like an old Nintendo fanboy now.

  • wow 70 dollars for an n64 game, holy crap!!

  • I find it very sad that the only way people play this game now is on emulators. The only real way to play Super Mario 64 is on a real Nintendo 64. 'Nuff said.

  • Nah. AN N64 controller on 1964 or PJ64 is just as good.

  • I still play it on an N64!

  • Not true. I think this game is kind of boring. I still play it now and then on the n64, but the main reason i do is cus i can use cheats and hack it. I also make mario 64 machinima.

  • Thank god for emulators!

  • lolz mario64 for the wii's virtual consol is 10$ now! That is a huge discount :0
