In the SCA, a hard hit to the head or chest is a killing blow. If you're hit on the arm, you lose that arm, and if you're hit on the leg, you go down on your knees for the remainder of the fight.

Where's the Cavalry Charge? & everybody is a Knight... Should be about 1 Knight per 400 skinny guys with pitch-forks and farm implemants. Still this is the coolest video I've watched on You-Tube today.
Obviously because the kind of guys who do SCA, while better than LARPers, are still fat or skinny dudes who feel the need to compensate, so they take up armor. If you had some reasonably fit football and soccer players take it up, the battles would be much better.
Probably was a couple thousand. I dont know that anyone really takes a head count. The event itself had 14,000 people, I think. Of course, not nearly that many fight ;-)
congrats............BTW,,,,they should make the battle feel more epic when they charge than that trumpet music,,,sounds more napoleonic than medieval (no offence to the sca)

Think of it this way: Fat or skinny dudes = skinny guys with pitchforks. Reasonably fit guys = knights.
Or to think of it another (more accurate) way: Guys with lots of skill = knights. Everybody else = skinny guys with pitchforks.

It is estimated at 1000 people fer side in the battle, 12,000 people camping at the event.
