Gotta love Bill. I think he's much underrated because he's not as 'cheery' or fashionable as some of the other commentators. He always reminded me somehow of Bert from Sesame Street, but I've always thought that in his quieter moments he's the most astute Australian commentator after Richie. Just my opinion!

Not everyone may like him, but i guess many that don't are just Anti-Australian haters. He was an awesome commentator, and he's no more biased than any other commentator or nationality. He was screaming for lambs boundaries, Bond's hattrick etc. His real bias is shown for his beloved Victoria, but he just overplays it for fun! I loved how excited he gets and is just great value . Him and Griegy had some fun moments. He's not as good anymore imo, but still better than the new brigade

everyone is biased to their home team a bit. but bill gets excited over good performances no matter who performs them. if the selection of clips had been different youd hear a lot more praise of other teams - but you already hear plenty here.
and i think it is great he brings excitement to the box. channel 9 worked in teams, and he brought in something different. he doesnt need to be all things at once (ie, overly analytical as well). other commentators could do that.

I hope you're not serious about him being the best commentator. He's a pretty god "action" commentator, in the sense that he can really pumt ip up with his typical stuff like "It's all happening at the Gabba" kinds of comments. But knowledge wise, he seems very superficial compared to others. And he's biased as hell when it comes to the aussies. Just IMO.

Bill Lawrie and Richie Benaud have to be two of the most knowledgeable, unbiased and entertaining commentators. They are like the voices of Australian cricket and seem to be going on and on and on for decades!!! love it!!

great vid. he's certainly my favourite commentator. i love the "got him last ball can you believe that". they play that on all the intro's to the cricket.

I hope you're not serious about him being the best commentator. He's a pretty god "action" commentator, in the sense that he can really pumt ip up with his typical stuff like "It's all happening at the Gabba" kinds of comments. But knowledge wise, he seems very superficial compared to others. And he's biased as hell when it comes to the aussies. Just IMO.

dude..he's not biased..he just happens to commentate only in matches in Australia and aussies invariably dominate those matches....he's quite impressed with Indians too...

@dinboy778 don`t analyse things too much. Bill loves wickets and big hits. I love Bill loving that. And I also love serious commentators. And when Robin Lamb put the Australians to the sword in the first clip Bill didn`t sound too biased. He sounded like his first hour on honeymoon.

@dinboy778 dead wrong re the bias. never heard a commentator who more enjoys good cricket regardless who is playing it. ultra fair in his calling of the game. as for the rest of the hacks next to him (and their bias)....channel nine cricket commentary box is in serious need of an overhaul.

Respect your sentiments - but let's agree to disagree on Bill Lawry. I will admit that growing up watching cricket in australia - BL and a few others made it a lot of fun! With the Indian surge in world cricket, we don't get to hear the best of Channel 9 anymore - and I think that's a shame.
