I don't see anything wrong with how Sly has aged. He's an elderly man who's Blessed to have lived so long and to have contributed so much. Millions of musicians owe a debt to the funk movement he created. Don't HATE! CREATE!

I play in a 9-piece disco band, instruments don't suprise me, but sometimes the selection of some instruments on a piece of music suprises me. Thanks for playing.
Was this on the video ~ Happy Feet? I don't see a listing on the soundtrack or trailers, but my little guy who is five swears it is...So, I'm really curious now...thanks
@sidified Hi Sid, No, you do deserve it (but don't let it go to your head. LOL) You hear and play what no one else can. The fluid dexterity of your fingers as you flutter like a butterfly through the melodies are just outstanding.
I hope you are going up to the 70th Birthday bash for Dan The Man. I am hoping I can find the means to get there. The 60th BB was incredible and the guests lined up for the 70th promise to make it even better.
Thank you for uploading, and thanks to the guy who provided details on Sid Page. This is a great video because you can see all the important details of the equipment used - like the cleavage on the gal playing the first organ - and what looks like an electric resonator guitar that Sly uses.
Wow! What a way to get the funk started, We where apart of the greatest music ever made. Just want to make you higher and move. The entrance, whoa brother, you can't beat it. What a time it was. Thanks for this video froze time for us to enjoy today.
Been a fan from day one, and with no disrepect to this genius............but I can only imagine the smell of weed on Sly when he finally hit the stage. To love Sly is to know Sly.
In order to find this video I have to type "Thank you Sly Stone" into the search bar and it means so much to me. It is like all of the videos that come up are a big list of songs I should be thankful for. Hang in there Sly.
Today, Sly Stone -- one of the greatest figures in soul-music history -- is homeless, his fortune stolen by a lethal combination of excess, substance abuse and financial mismanagement.
Feel bad for Sly living out of a car somewhere in NY. Would not want to be him during the winter. He recently said he was cheated out of his earnings by his former Jew manager. Surprised? Don't think so. He is now suing that son of isreal.
If someone wanted my recollection of the 1970s this video would depict it for me! Not the BeeGees or Stain Alive or Disco, which only lasted for a couple years.
All of these rich sounds that are used in rockin' roll and even country originated with this band! The Fiddle, horn sections! Even the bass guitar found it place and roll as a feature sound that later musicians would embrace life Chili Pepers etc. Sly get the Family back together!!
Who are the bass and guitar players (stage left)? That's not Rusty Allen (or Larry Graham) on bass and that's not Freddie Stone on guitar. I would have guessed David Stallings on guitar (a guitar teacher of mine when I was a kid) but that looks nothing like him
@FelixTheCat24x7 You gots to trust yourself, my brother...that IS Rusty on bass, and TIS Sly's brother Freddie on guitar...I should know...that's me on violin..
Yes, I have several Hot Club of France albums with Django, and I also have some rare 78 rpm records that I found in a thrift store of Django Rinehardt that I have yet to play.
That would be Sid Page on violin. Since the deaths of Stephane Grappelli and Vassar Clements, Sid Page in my opinion now stands as the greatest living fiddle player and his achievements as a concert violinist are remarkable. too
He joined up with Sly right after the break up of Dan Hicks & The Hot Licks in the 1970s. Sid was was one of the Hot Licks.
You don't see the funk fiddle enough anymore
