  • It's thrilling to know that Maggie was released from her prison. I love watching her joyful life at PAWS. I'm surprised that people would be sad to see that see was freed.

  • Maggie was one of the only unnorthern animals at the Alaska Zoo and i enjoyed seeing her!! shes was always more interesting to go see then the lazy tigers >.< but im happy she is with others... i luv u Maggie!!! <3

  • She threw a log at my head.

  • AWW WE MISS MAGGIE!! we were sad to see her go but we know that she has a better home!!

    Love ya Maggie,

    Emmerz And Desterz

  • Maggie is aloive and happy at PAWS sanctuary in CA....what a wonderful plave for her forever home....

  • I remember Maggie so much! I'm 15 now, but when I was younger, I used to go to the zoo just to see her! I hope she is well!

  • How is Maggie now? Where is she?

  • I love Maggie.

  • Well it was sad to let Maggie go I liked her a lot and after five years of living in Alaska I most admet that it is hard and knew that is she stayed any longer she might of died. Poor Mag I hope she loves her new home *Sniffs*

  • @Beetyborscht You're an insensitive pr*ck.

  • Maggie needs the company of other elephants. I hope and pray that she will be sent to The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee (by some miracle). The elephants there are so content and happy. Please someone, send her to a warmer place! Please.

  • Aw poor old girl. Elephants have one of the most complex social lives of any animal and being alone for a female elephant is the worst punishment of all. They are also extremely intelligent...even more so than humans in many ways. It is NOT a human right to go out and capture a wild animal simply to make money off them, especially from a creature that shows empathy towards humans.

  • Maggie has lived here for 23 yrs. This video shows her in a cage, but she also has beautiful grounds. People need to get all the facts and get them straight before voicing opinions. I also want the best for Maggie, but I don't believe all these outsiders know what that is. The zoo board is taking it's time to be wise with a decision. Instead of giving money to move her, it would be nice to get donations to better her facility here, I'm sure she'd want to stay!

  • aaah- Maggie. I love her- I moved to ANchorage when Annabel died, so Maggie was the only one :-) whatever

  • Does anyone care about the poor artist who recorded this song? It was used without rights given...support intellectual property rights.

Toothless goobers in Tennessee would eat her! Very disturbing nobody thought to move her 20 yrs ago. Alaskan children have never seen an elephant in a circus nor poached. Moving her is worse than caring for her in the way she has been her entire life (25 years) in Alaska. How about those poor orcas or polar bears in cages?

  • I live in alaska, and all my life ive grown up looking at magie in a cage, its terrible. Me personally hate zoo's. I hate looking at the animals sitting there staring at the people wanting out and wanting freedom. I dont think there should be zoo's. I think we should just let the animals free.. let them do what they want let them live there own life. And not in captivity.

  • MAGGIE IS FREE!MAGGIE IS FREE!

  • This is very sad. The thing is...the vast majority of zoos nowadays don't keep their animals in enclosures like this anymore. They do have cages for medical purposes when the animal is sick, but otherwise the animal has a habitat that it lives within that give them free range. This is a singularly sad story, but there is hope for animals kept in captivity like this. Thanks for posting this video.

  • MAGGIE IS FREE!MAGGIE IS FREE!

  • What about your poor cats and dogs that you keep cooped up in your tiny Apt.s or houses only to poop in a box in your closet or kitchens????

  • i saw maggie yesterday. so sad and lonely. she is covered in sores from her struggles a few weeks ago while down on the cement. she was favoring her right side and leaning on an outside wall to keep weight off her left side. she seemed lathargic and intraverted. only came out to the yard when she finally realized they wouldn't let her back in her steel hell. i finally had to walk away cause seeing her made my stomach hurt. Jesus, someone please help her.

  • Poor beautiful Maggie. I hope she finds sanctuary soon. Visit the "Friends of Maggie" website to see how you can help free Maggie from her cold cage.

  • by the way, fuck all you stupid hipies. BLACK POWER!!!

  • brandynbaldwin how about you grow up and stop being such an idiot. I bet you would cry your self to sleep if you had to live in a cage for your whole life.

  • if i lived in a cage my whole life i wouldnt know that there were an outside world, so i wouldnt be the least bit sad.

  • she looks delicious. can't wait for her to die. her friend tasted like beef jerky when i ate her.

  • The assembly told the zoo to make a decision on what to do with Maggie, hopefully the Zoo will finally do the right thing! It's so sad! I hate the winters here, i cant imagine what it would be like to have to spend them in a jail in solitary confinement.

  • Elephants are such intelligent and social creatures, to be locked up in a prison cell will kill Maggie, Please help her everybody!!!!!!!!!!

  • So,so,sad. This is animal abuse,to keep this poor lady isolated in a bleak concrete prison, especially as she has been offered sanctuary on several occasions.Give her a fair go!

  • Maggie left Alaska finally yesterday. News article can be found off CBS. Thank you for caring for her.

  • Unfortunately, you are wrong there. Maggie is still held captive alone in concrete walls of Alaska. The latest to date is that she's sick, fell down for hours 2x in 1 wk. and is now in a sling. Do a Maggie the elephant search anywhere. Are you from Anchorage zoo's PR dept? If so, you're in PR hell if anything happens to her. You'll have ppl. like me lined up at the gate with a "You killed Maggie!" sign. How's your resume looking? She should be retired to a sanctuary!

  • i live in anchorage, alaska, and this video is very true maggie is very sad in a little cage

  • Awesome video and song. Thank you for a really great presentation showing the plight of Maggie. I agree.... Maggie should be in a sanctuary asap.

  • I saw her at the Anchorage zoo. I love her.

  • Do you love her enough to send her to sanctuary?
