The blues just doesn't seem right when it's played in front of tens of thousands of people in an open air concert....stilll a great version, but I prefer to just listen to it, not watch the actual video.
@agublizzard I also hate these everlasting discussions about musicians. 'B.B. is better than Eric.... Jimi is better than SRV....' Bla Bla Bla.....
Shut up y'all, enjoy the music and stop comparing art ! All people that compare these great musicians don't know shit about true art and music. No one is worse or better, that is what art is all about: Creativity....
is there anyone who got this performance on mp3?but this one Hyde Park?pls write me a personal message because Im trying to find it for almost a year now...
well i think that has more to do with the fact that there issen't a melody left he didn't play yet so it's hard to come up with something new in a solo , and that's frustrating for a guitar player i think.
but even still now he will kick the ass of 95% of the world. i only hate that he's using the wah wah pedal alot nowadays that's not his thing i think.
i was at this concert. Was superb. Him saying about his playing not being as good as in the 90s is untrue of course. His playing this decade has been even better, The whole 2004 tour incl the Crossroads conert saw him step up another level from this performance. As did his playing on the Cream Reunion and with Steve Winwood on their tours over last 2 yrs as well as the guest appearance with Allman Bros band. All mindblowing
Can't compare guitarists. Especially the blues. Because good guitar playing is all about taste. Clapton obviously has it. SRV has it. Knopfler has it. All good, no need to compare!
As a veteran of blues playing I'll chime in. All these guys are famous for a reason, all UNIQUE IN THIER OWN WAY. Skill wise, Knofler hands down, not even close, clapton himself will tell you. Clapton is still my idol and the greatest ever for many other reasons. Raw skill is a very small part of the total package. P.S.
ok, but yur always welcome by the Emo Kon Man ! Goodies will await and Time will Fly !!! BTW, this music beats the strongest pain meds. I no that 1st hand.
Eric no doubt, but honorable mentions here : David Gilmour,Jimmy Page, Mark Knopfler, Alex Lifeson, Snowy White, John Petrucci, There are more GREATS, anyone is welcome to state Favorite Guitarists !!!
Clapton is really great. I ve seen this concert SO many times and i just cant get enough. When i watch him playing that solo, i feel like he s talking to me, such a powerful feeling
Well is he very talented and a awesome guitarist,,,,,, God is for only the one main man,,, but Clapton is GREAT. And I am so happy to see someone your age believe in his greatness,,,, the world and youth are not as forsaken as us older people believe,,,,, your generation will keep Clapton alive.
Dude maybe he isnt your God but he is the one i worship lol he is amazing i am soo glad ive had the opportunity to see him live, and i seriously hope 1 day i will get to play with him maybe at a charity concert, fingers crossed
i've got a theory that all those idiots that say this guitarist is better than that guitarist, either is young like 15, so their brain hasn't developed yet properly. Or their one of those emotionless guitar players who are all after speed, technique, fancy scales.
not true at all, my opinion that Clapton is the greatest guitarist ever nd i dont revolve all of my playing around speed or fancy scales, i put my heart nd soul into it, but a lot of my mates talk bout all these Metal bands and when i say anythin about Eric they are like he sucks, those comments just show how guitar music has been polluted by bands hu use the guitar as jus noise and hav no emotion, i dnt hav a clue how any1 can say Eric sucks, without him guitar music would be lacking a lot
the main fact is that they playing together on occassion without thinking who's the best .They just enjoy playing and they make us feel like Heaven ...That' the point ...
Well people who are musical hear that for instance Larry Carlton is better guitarist than say an avererage rock guitarist. It has nothing to do with speed, technique or fancy scales. Carlton has better touch, he is better improviser etc.
This is a great song, but Clapton is nothing compared to Stevie Ray Vaughan or Robben Ford as a blues guitarist.
whahahahaha le ou se errrrrrrrrrrrr why do you think everybody says that because they like him so much as a personality ? he is one of the only guitar player who always keeps doing solo's and improves them or make them from a new angle just because the beat is slow doesnt say that it is easy guitar playing stupid f*ck do the world a favour and pick up the guitar yourself and try to play the mainlead of layla and post that online we would have a good laugh that day we will never forget
without clapton you wouldn't be listening to all your new age bullshit that you love so highly, which is all just stomp boxes and power chords anyway, dickhead
Clapton plays "primitive" not because he can't play high tech stuff, but because he wants too!!! the guitar is supporting the lyrics and emotion in the song, it's not some guys saying lets write a song about this alien and will put these wierd and difficult stuff in.
lol see the interview with eric from live aid. he says how much he admires marks playing and wish he was that good. im sure you havent seen shit from mark then. he got some of his skills from mr guitar chet atkins. i tell you, you dont know shit about guitar smartass bigmouth. mark is way out of eric leauge. and mark says in an album that half the stuff chet could play,i could never play. besides eric uses a flat pick. he cant play near any of them. retard. i hate big mouths like you! shame

You've got another chance! Tickets for Clapton in Hyde Park go on sale tomorrow.
It's called 'Hard Rock Calling' and is on the 28th June.
I'll be getting some.
