  • his voice is so great...

  • Or better yet, thank god for guitars and characters like Clapton that dare to PLAY THEM!!!!!!

  • Thank god for Eric Clapton and his guitar!!!!

  • When Eric plays this song he always gives me goose bumps and memories I have not had in a long time. Exceelllent performer and back group.

  • I've turned into one big goose bump!!

  • i came at 0:04-8:38

  • 5:06 FUZZZZZ

  • Id hate for him to get bored... show your appreciation! He maybe bored, but doesnt realise how much it affects others

  • wow

  • OMG, that crying bend at 6:19....

  • The blues just doesn't seem right when it's played in front of tens of thousands of people in an open air concert....stilll a great version, but I prefer to just listen to it, not watch the actual video.

  • bad tone

  • @hulutiy you kidding? that strat sounds incredible

  • It's my favourite Eric's song!!!

His solo is great every time hi's playng it!

  • This DVD is one of the best!

  • Clapton thinking he's a proper blues man,lmao.....Cray shit's on him,no messing.

  • 5:06: looks like he misses a note then goes "fuck this, full speed time!"

  • YeYes it is Awesome you are welcome.

  • One of the best solos I have ever heard from him. The part at around 6:00 let me shiver everytime ...

    Thanks for sharing :)

  • this emg pickups sound like crap. I have the same setting like him, and they sound just like this

  • Divin Clapton !!!

  • Eric better than Mark? Mark better than Eric? What are you thinking about!?! How is possible to use the word "better"?...

  • @agublizzard I also hate these everlasting discussions about musicians. 'B.B. is better than Eric.... Jimi is better than SRV....' Bla Bla Bla.....

Shut up y'all, enjoy the music and stop comparing art ! All people that compare these great musicians don't know shit about true art and music. No one is worse or better, that is what art is all about: Creativity....

  • Truly God

  • Eric Clapton es Dios y los musicos que lo acompañan son angeles.

  • Eric Clapton es Dios y los músicos que le acompañan son angeles. Todos son extraordinarios.

  • I agree he does seem to get better with age!

  • Clapton es Dios y los musicos que lo acompañan son angeles maravillosos.

  • @robert112157 cause he's not on heroin anymore and going off to work on farms to get clean

  • This is one of my Clapton Favorites. He is getting better with age. Like fine wine!

  • anyone else think this wasn't mixed great? sound off balance somehow

  • the last song for pattie boyd...

  • great blues, deep emotions...slowhand doing a good job.... ;)

  • Amazing, perfect...

  • best piece ever

  • is there anyone who got this performance on mp3?but this one Hyde Park?pls write me a personal message because Im trying to find it for almost a year now...

  • The hardest thing to do like Clapton is the feeling/soul. Ya just can't learn soul!

  • That's true.

  • Eric Clapton is sick on the guitar!

  • This is an awe inspiring performance.

  • Clapton said in an interview that he cannot play like he used to - and he knew from watching a video of himself on youtube from the 90's.

This could be the one. He is awesome here. Bittersweet on those terms. He will live forever of course.

  • well i think that has more to do with the fact that there issen't a melody left he didn't play yet so it's hard to come up with something new in a solo , and that's frustrating for a guitar player i think.

but even still now he will kick the ass of 95% of the world. i only hate that he's using the wah wah pedal alot nowadays that's not his thing i think.

  • i was at this concert. Was superb. Him saying about his playing not being as good as in the 90s is untrue of course. His playing this decade has been even better, The whole 2004 tour incl the Crossroads conert saw him step up another level from this performance. As did his playing on the Cream Reunion and with Steve Winwood on their tours over last 2 yrs as well as the guest appearance with Allman Bros band. All mindblowing

  • @jbawn

-Watup, if you got any good 2000+ performances on youtube let me check em out... he sounds different every decade it's insane. thanks

  • Clapton is the one! And only!

    greeting from Bulgaria!!!

  • this man is god he created the univirse by playin the guitar

  • THANKS..GREAT

  • Can't compare guitarists. Especially the blues. Because good guitar playing is all about taste. Clapton obviously has it. SRV has it. Knopfler has it. All good, no need to compare!

  • As a veteran of blues playing I'll chime in. All these guys are famous for a reason, all UNIQUE IN THIER OWN WAY. Skill wise, Knofler hands down, not even close, clapton himself will tell you. Clapton is still my idol and the greatest ever for many other reasons. Raw skill is a very small part of the total package. P.S.

CLAPTON IS GOD! :) ENJOY THE VID

  • Blues Claptona wzrusza, a solo mistrzostwo świata, wielkie dzięki

  • CLAPTON rules!

  • amazing solo, i don't know how to say

  • knopfler, clapton, stevie, and mayer. the big four. each good in their own way.

  • That guitar solo was sick!!!

  • Such a beautiful voice

  • That is such a good Observation! Eric does have a great voice to go along with his music!

  • Brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @dokken1991 you´re such a lucky guy.. must have been an incredible night..

i love the dvd of the hyde park concert

  • King Eric I, Blues Rock, Love this !!!

  • This is what takes me away from it all!!!

  • ok, but yur always welcome by the Emo Kon Man ! Goodies will await and Time will Fly !!! BTW, this music beats the strongest pain meds. I no that 1st hand.

  • I feel exactly the same way!!!! cheers

  • eric clapton -god of the guitar

  • Eric no doubt, but honorable mentions here : David Gilmour,Jimmy Page, Mark Knopfler, Alex Lifeson, Snowy White, John Petrucci, There are more GREATS, anyone is welcome to state Favorite Guitarists !!!

  • Clapton is really great. I ve seen this concert SO many times and i just cant get enough. When i watch him playing that solo, i feel like he s talking to me, such a powerful feeling

  • i am 14 and Clapton is my hero i love him!!!!! I saw him in Manchester at the M.E.N a few weeks ago and he was amazing. CLAPTON IS GOD!!!

  • Well is he very talented and a awesome guitarist,,,,,, God is for only the one main man,,, but Clapton is GREAT. And I am so happy to see someone your age believe in his greatness,,,, the world and youth are not as forsaken as us older people believe,,,,, your generation will keep Clapton alive.

    THANK YOU,,,,,,

    Robert112157

  • Dude maybe he isnt your God but he is the one i worship lol he is amazing i am soo glad ive had the opportunity to see him live, and i seriously hope 1 day i will get to play with him maybe at a charity concert, fingers crossed

  • @robert112157 What's with all the commas?

  • depends on who you worship

    clapton should be god

  • Jesus is God!

  • Clapton is god.

  • i've got a theory that all those idiots that say this guitarist is better than that guitarist, either is young like 15, so their brain hasn't developed yet properly. Or their one of those emotionless guitar players who are all after speed, technique, fancy scales.

  • You nailed that one right on the head!

    Thanks!!

  • not true at all, my opinion that Clapton is the greatest guitarist ever nd i dont revolve all of my playing around speed or fancy scales, i put my heart nd soul into it, but a lot of my mates talk bout all these Metal bands and when i say anythin about Eric they are like he sucks, those comments just show how guitar music has been polluted by bands hu use the guitar as jus noise and hav no emotion, i dnt hav a clue how any1 can say Eric sucks, without him guitar music would be lacking a lot

  • get some facts instead of your retarded opinions. and understand em. you just dont like what you see cause you dont understand

  • 3439ra , my dear six string Brother ,

the main fact is that they playing together on occassion without thinking who's the best .They just enjoy playing and they make us feel like Heaven ...That' the point ...

  • Well people who are musical hear that for instance Larry Carlton is better guitarist than say an avererage rock guitarist. It has nothing to do with speed, technique or fancy scales. Carlton has better touch, he is better improviser etc.

This is a great song, but Clapton is nothing compared to Stevie Ray Vaughan or Robben Ford as a blues guitarist.

  • i agree with you 100 %

  • maaann degrading 15 yr olds so much? S:

Anyways i still agree, no one realises the improtance of emotion in playing guitar any more :(

  • Check out my version of old love on my page...is the second song!

  • Enjoyed it! Good luck with your music.

  • and the only reason you think he's boring is cause he keeps most of his stuff in the same key, noob

  • whahahahaha le ou se errrrrrrrrrrrr why do you think everybody says that because they like him so much as a personality ? he is one of the only guitar player who always keeps doing solo's and improves them or make them from a new angle just because the beat is slow doesnt say that it is easy guitar playing stupid f*ck do the world a favour and pick up the guitar yourself and try to play the mainlead of layla and post that online we would have a good laugh that day we will never forget

  • without clapton you wouldn't be listening to all your new age bullshit that you love so highly, which is all just stomp boxes and power chords anyway, dickhead

  • Clapton plays "primitive" not because he can't play high tech stuff, but because he wants too!!! the guitar is supporting the lyrics and emotion in the song, it's not some guys saying lets write a song about this alien and will put these wierd and difficult stuff in.

  • Absolutely amazing. One of the few masters of good rock still playing.

  • id dont think there has ever been a better improv guitarist. absolutely amazing!!!

  • lol. clapton is not even near what knopfler is;P just look at my favs. all knopflers guitars and chet atkins. there you have guitar. enyoj!

  • Comment removed

  • did you ever think that clapton could play in the vain of knopfler, but doesn't want to?

  • u dont know shit mate Clapton is better than Knopfle everybody knows it

  • lol see the interview with eric from live aid. he says how much he admires marks playing and wish he was that good. im sure you havent seen shit from mark then. he got some of his skills from mr guitar chet atkins. i tell you, you dont know shit about guitar smartass bigmouth. mark is way out of eric leauge. and mark says in an album that half the stuff chet could play,i could never play. besides eric uses a flat pick. he cant play near any of them. retard. i hate big mouths like you! shame

  • clapton is a sick bastard. he's one of the last living guitar god in my eyes. does anyone know the drummers name i see him often

  • he's name is steve gadd..a bloody beast he is..all those musos are awesome on that stage...

  • imo this is not music, this is art on the highest level !

  • what an amazing solo

  • beautiful...moves me to tears

  • Comment removed

  • Daynu, EC has always been able to lay it down, but like fine wine...he IS getting BETTER!

  • This is the best Clapton song ever.

  • Not bad

  • steve gadd at the set , nailing it as always

  • That solo is goosebump material.

  • Is that Steve Gadd on drums?

  • goddamn, his guitar sounds amazing

  • is this song for patti?

how many george and eric song for her?

  • I don't know about george, but clapton did layla, old love etc because of patti.

  • And SHe's Waiting and Bell Bottom Blues

  • EC definitely the man

  • He's actually DESTROYING the WHOLE song. From beginning to end sheer brilliance. Musical Supremacy..

  • This version is so awesome, and he just nailed the solo for sure. And he makes it look so easy!

  • i think two of the best were in 24 nights (deleted) and the msg 1999 concert. those two are amazing

  • And this is why he's the best....That is one of the most burning solo's I've EVER heard.

  • A vary and wonderful touch that moves the heart and soul...

  • Vary moveing and wonderful touch that that reaches the heart and soul..

  • Released on DVD 97,,, either way it's great

  • it was in 96 not 97 XD

  • Oh man, that was one hell of a solo. Just breath taking.

  • foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr song

  • Wow....lovely! I had this on VHS once. I think this is a part of a big show (festival?) with Alanis Morisette, The Who, Eric Clapton and Bob Dylan performing. Maybe others also...

I had this on VHS once....this is the best plugged version of Old Love I've ever seen performed. Awsome solo by Clapton!

I remember alanis beeing great as well...she then played with the drummer now in Foo Fighters. He looked cracy then...and still does :p

  • Eric Clapton - Live in Hyde Park (1997),,,I wish I had the whole concert...

  • Have you seen the Madison Square Garden version? Overall I think it's better than this one but the solo here can't be beaten.(They're both great so I don't know what the point is in comparing them, but meh.)

  • I have not seen or heard that version but would love to check it out!

  • La plus vibrante version de «Old Love» À écouter sans modération !!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Merci Eric............

  • He saw him play this live in toronto in 2007, and robert cray (the co author) came out and joined in and it was unbelievable, i still get goose bumps when i think about it.i was in awe and didnt know if i should cheer or cry. clapton live is a whole different story , you can feel the emotion.

    PP:Clapton, Clapton, Clapton

  • I'm glad you and others like it; I have been a Bruce Springsteen fan since the 70's and I play the guitar and Eric Clapton is my greatest influence. I love to hear a guitar cry out with emotion, feeling, and soul! That is what Clapton exudes in his playing.

  • how come people have had such issues finding this song? I had no issues at all finding it.

  • This concert version was taken off of you tube for a while, there are other versions of Clapton doing Old Love but not like this one

  • I meant regarding downloading the CD version

  • my only wish to god is plz put me on this concert in 1995!!!!!!! where the hell was I???????????the atmosphere is suiting to the song..

i close my eyes and listen to the solo and when he says "old love" at the end of the solo..its just fucking awesome..wat u guys think??

  • You've got another chance! Tickets for Clapton in Hyde Park go on sale tomorrow.
